I was walking from Wey to Raley Hall shortly before 9:30 that morning and overhead a passer by say a plane flew into the WTC, I remember thinking that must be an interesting movie they watched.

My professor still held class at 9:30 that day, what a strange man he was.

Did your professor have long matted hair? I forget his name, he used to life weights like a mad person in the Quinn. Same outfit every time, black sweatpants and a black sweatshirt.

Yep I had a major exam for Business Ethics at 9:30 that morning. Had heard about the planes on the radio on my drive to park in the stadium parking lot.
The rest of the day was just watching TV about the events in all other classes.

It's a little funny how an event like 9/11 shows your age. Y'all talking about going to class in college, I was in 8th grade social studies class when our teacher came in and told us what happened. We just watched movies the rest of the day while the teachers watched the TV.
Now, I teach students who weren't even alive when it happened and are "tired of hearing about it."

Yep! I had been working 15 years at that point in my career. Will never forget that day.

This is why I'm a firm believer in corporal punishment.

No, but same department. You're referring to Dr. Martinelli. Really believed in core workouts. He loved the ol' chopping wood exercise on the cable machine. I always enjoyed when our workout schedules overlapped and watching others that had never seen him grunt with every rep.

That cable machine, I always thought was going to snap. It was wild to watch!

I was working at the Salisbury Police Department and had finished night shift. I was awakened by one of my friends who told me to turn on the TV. I turned it on and watched in amazement..... then the second plane hit the towers. My exact thought was.... we are at war. I remember feeling so helpless and I just stood there stunned. Everyone in law enforcement was on high alert after that day. It took a couple of weeks for everything to return to its normal ebb and flow. It seems that this year people seem to be forgetting. There aren't as many memorial events (that I am seeing). Political persons are going to "new events" in lieu of the 9/11 sights. Just seems like a weird day for sure...... Maybe its just me.

I was conducting a meeting when an employee stopped in and whispered to me about the first plane , I shared it with the group .A few minutes later he came back and the look on his face had me up and meeting him at the door.I adjourned the meeting after informing everyone that we were under attack and sent them to where they needed to be .The next several days are a blur these 21 years later.I do remember that I saw the absolute best from people ,and in people .It is a shame what it takes for this to arise , perhaps we are at our best when things are at their worst ....

I recall school ending and buses/parents coming to get kids. 3rd grade. Big school in Charlotte, probably had a lot of NY family members at the school. Was a little too young to realize what was going on but, the year before in 2000, my dad took me to the Yankees ticker tape parade after they won the world series. We stayed in the Marriott connected to the WTC (also burned down). We’ve got a bar of soap still from that hotel and some photos from the roof deck of WTC. I won’t ever forget that bar of soap, the photos, or the Parade. Never forget!

Today is also the 50th anniversary of the coup to overthrow a democratically elected government in Chile that the US had some part in going back to 1970.

For those “tired of hearing about”, they are destined to repeat it. Next time it may be all of Charlotte destroyed, or Atlanta destroyed… or maybe just a football stadium full of people… so never forget. And be on guard.

Yeah because this has everything to do with 9/11.

As a graduate of the Walker cob of 5 years ago… can confirm martinelli still roams the halls with his crazy hair.

Planes from all over the country were grounded. They were 3-4 deep on the ramp. Lots of them had to park on the ramp at the freight hangars. Never before had there been that many planes parked. People came off planes and had no idea where they were. On top of that they couldn’t stay at the airport. Everything was closed down. I went home at 4:00 saw my wife and kids who were worried to death. Went back to the airport and patrolled the ramps all night. I wasn’t even law enforcement. Just volunteered as that was the only thing I could do. Several days later the first plane took off. I saw it and took a deep breath as some normalcy was returning. It was extremely weird walking through the terminals and no one was there.

I had just finished a 24 hour shift at EMS and went to the FD for a day shift when I received a call to turn on the tv. Watched as the 2nd tower was hit.
