Back in 1936, Jackie Robinson and his family were rooting against Jesse Owens in the 200 yard dash at the Berlin Olympics. Anyone here know the reason why?

Now I know too. Google is a great tool. I hope NewApp sees this thread while he's on "sabbatical". It'll drive him crazy that someone doesn't just post the answer.

Okay, for the curious who don't want to do an internet search, I'll give the answer. Jackie Robinson and his family were rooting against Jesse Owens in the 200 yard dash at the 1936 Berlin Olympics because Jackie's older brother, Mack Robinson, was competing against Owens in the event. Mack Robinson would finish second behind Jesse Owens winning a silver medal. Even though he finished second, Mack Robinson's time in the event was better than the existing Olympic record.
