There have been tons of penalties so far mostly from sloppy play. It looks like the offenses may have arrived for the second half.

Meanwhile, New Mexico St is being owned by Wyoming. Quite sad looking so far.

Watched a little of the A&T game, and a little of the Wyoming and CSU games. The difference between ranked FCS and average to above average G5 FBS is so obvious to me now. I don't think I could see it as clearly, or didn't want to see it, when we were FCS, but it is miles apart. So glad we have moved up.

The NCA&T vs. JSU game was really sloppy. JSU should have won but killed themselves with major penalties. One of the big ones was late in the game on an onside kick, they were off sides AND were called for "interfering with the receiver."
Someone help me here. The ball traveled 10 yards and JSU man covered it, but he made contact with the receiving A&T player AFTER covering the ball. I thought it was a live ball and both teams had an equal shot after 10 yards. Anybody know what the specific rule is?

I think this was a bad call. I didn't see any contact made. The "rules expert" referees in the booth almost never will call out the on-field refs for missing a call.

This reminds me how much I don't miss FCS officiating. Although no level of officiating is perfect, the distance from it certainly varies.

Southern Conference officiating was usually awful.
