Article also mentions we have interest in Baucom from VMI. In my opinion both are good candidates who have experienced success on the D1 level as a head coach.

He would certainly make short work of our APR and criminal issues. My only concern would revolve around the big difference between recruiting for a small private school and a relatively big public school.

No denying the man has what it takes to make the big dance though. He's been doing it almost every year recently.

would love to have him as our hc, his teams are always smart, well coached and play hard. I watched them against Michigan this year in the tournament, they were in the game right up to the last 3 or 4 minutes. I wonder if it would help if Woody placed a "friendly call" for us, and get him to atleast listen to App's offer.

Interesting development that I really expected two weeks ago. Dunno what he'll say. He's been a fixture on the Wofford bench for a long time...first as an assistant...then as HC.

The news hasn't made it to Spartanburg yet; but the W-S Journal site is locked up. Did ASU fans do that? :P

From that article it sounds like he's already listening, but probably doesn't have an offer to consider yet.

Appears Charlie hasn't been reading the message boards again! He didn't need a committee, just access to the MMB!

I wonder why other schools haven't shown interest in Young. His first 6 years weren't pretty, but he's won nearly 2/3 of his conference games in years 7 through 12; and he's made 3 trips to the big dance. That's phenomenal success. And players seem to be graduating, with no negative publicity that I am aware of. Young would be a real steal for us.

He's gonna be hard to steal. He's got it made at Wofford. He's been there 26 years in total. His wife is a partner with PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The Youngs won't be moving on the cheap!

I like Young....he recruited hard nosed kids who could play basketball and were coachable.

He knows talent when he sees it and I think would be a convincing recruiter. Making it to the Dance 3 of 5 with Davidson in the league is large!

Ouch PwC is big....but hey....maybe she''ll open up a regional office in Blowing Rock for all that Florida Cash that visits!

Young would be a GREAT hire if we can pull that off. You can look at his teams and see he gets the best out of his kids every time out on the court.

Meaning even our best offer would still be a paycut for them as a couple; a derailing of her career; and less job security for him . . . ouch!

I think Coach Young's family situation, like others have said, make this a long shot.

I like Coach Young and think he would do a great job at App. My concern is that his style of basketball is not particularly exciting. Similarly to their football program it's based around defense. 20 win seasons when a team is scoring 60 points is not going to get people from down the mountain driving up for a basketball game.

Yeah, it would really be depressing to see us employ a style of play similar to Virginia.
I tell you what would be exciting for me--winning games. And as long as we run a clean program, I don't particularly care how it gets done. And I would be willing to bet that a helluva lot of App fans would agree with me, and plant their fannies in the Holmes Center.

I'm not so certain family income/career is nearly as much of an an issue as the major uprooting it would take--a teenage daughter and son still at home and 25 year roots in the same college, home, church and community. That's asking a lot of a family. The PwC thing might have an easy solution. The company might well need a greater presence on the ASU campus and/or in Boone-Blowing Rock-Linville-Banner Elk that Mrs. Young could fill quite well.
