We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

WBB: UNC-G @ ASU (Senior Day)

Unread post by asu66 » Fri Feb 14, 2014 11:19 am

ASU (RPI #251) 9-14, 6-7 SoCon hosts the Spartans of UNC-G (RPI #306) 6-17, 2-10 SoCon tomorrow/Sat. afternoon at HCC. It's Senior Day, Think Pink and Play4KAY Day in The High Country. Guard Michelle Taylor of Tampa (FL) H. B. Plant HS is the lone senior on Darcie's young team. Taylor will be honored in pre-game ceremonies. She expects to graduate with her class in May.

This should be a very winnable game for the Apps. It's not a gimme, but very winnable. UNC-G, like ASU, is loaded with frosh and soph players just getting their feet wet in Div. I BB. The Spartans just beat GaSouth to break an eight game losing streak. A road win will be tough for them to get in the cold, snowy "northwest" country.

The game tips at 1:30 PM on ESPN 3.

We learned just today that redshirt junior PG Jessica Barrios of Miami (FL) Miami Beach HS has chosen to pass up her last year of eligibility and graduate with her class. Barrios is an honors applied physics major and probably has several choice job opportunities awaiting her graduation.

In the meantime, Barrios' ASU team has blown a 16 point lead against UNC-G. The game is now tied 42-42 with 15 minutes to play. ASU has been outscored 21 - 5 since the latter stages of the first half.

I am sure Ms. Barrios is heads and shoulders above me in intelligence and mental ability. My nose was not in a book every waking moment, but my goodness I don't see how there is time to do all the labs, especially as a senior in senior seminar in Physics AND play a sport. Major props to this young lady. I am very impressed.
