"The Crusade" in HCC: NGreenville on the march

The lightly regarded North Greenville Crusaders march into HCC tonight hoping to catch the also lightly regarded Capelneers looking ahead to a Sunday afternoon reunion with Charlotte's Miners49ers.
It's hard to predict anything much about this game. It shouldn't, by any stretch of the imagination, be close; and that's precisely why it may be closer than we care to see. Another 1 basket night from Obacha and another 16 percent shooting performance from the Burgess-Hamilton-Eaves triumvirate and it won't matter how many points Tevin Baskin can pour in.
While this game is getting under way, Darcy Vincent's Apps could be well on the way to their first-ever defeat at the hands of a very good A&T Aggies squad in the Corbett Center. A&T already boasts wins over UR's Spiders, Davidson, GaState and Stetson.
Then, most of ASU's few remaining loyal basketball fans will be scoreboard-watching during tonight's Battle for the Hornet's Nest as Davidson travels the short route down I-77 and across Harris Blvd. to University Center and Halton Arena to take on an extremely dangerous, 7-1 Charlotte team. It will take some McKillop magic and some McKillop-patented Long Island cheap shots to get his team in the win column this outing--because his all-everything forward, De'Mon Brooks, is injured and will not play.
Charlotte's premier point guard, Pierria Henry, is questionable for the game as is 6-6 guard Ivan Benkovic. Never mind, the Niners are loaded and big. Heck, they're even loaded with former Jason Capel recruits--like PG Denzel Ingram (Chapel Hill) (who's said to have verballed to Capel on a home visit and backed out the very next day) and PF Marki Bryan (Raleigh) (who verballed to Capel twice--and backed out twice).
If Davidson can't hang with UNCC tonight without Brooks; methinks ASU is in for a world of hurt Sunday without Canty. Boy, would I love to be wrong.
Que sera, sera! Give 'em Hell, Apps!
