Okay, a used, four-sided scoreboard.

Better ask Lameley if it's possible. I had heard from one of the @#I*+-shovelers, that the roof wouldn't support the weight. I just considered the source.

It's Bush's fault.

There are a few numbers up there, but unless I'm totally mistaken, none belong to men's basketball. I'd love a new video scoreboard, but I'd love to establish some tradition as well by cementing it for all to see and honoring players that come through. Not sure if there are qualifiers or not, but someone is bound to have done something to earn it.

Donald Sims, for example, won SoCon POY and is the all time leading scorer. Does that not qualify?

Agaian, appreciate the slight sidebar
First, the player has to be a member of the ASU Athletics Hall of Fame. In order to qualify, one has to have had a tremendous playing career at Appalachian; must have been out of school for a minimum of five seasons; and must be nominated, then elected to membership by members of the Former Athletes Association. Honors beyond Hall of Fame membership are the prerogative of the Athletic Director and athletics council.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought you were one of the ones rationalizing incurring more debt to expand KBS.
As usual you are mistaken.

JT, when the Greensboro coliseum expanded many moons ago, they bought the scoreboard from Madison Square Garden-- it was being replaced... It functioned for many years as our coliseum scoreboard--- so, good idea!

I'm actually glad I was mistaken, but the CW was that debt was not a negative. In fact, it was spun as a positive. Didn't hear you state otherwise, though. And as to "as usual" you are wrong many times and never admit it. 90% figuratively of what is posted on here is opinion and most often, at least one or two on here agree with my stances.

The problem is that soooo many people do. The highest priority we should have right now has nothing to do with spending. Our very highest priority should be income and how to maintain it. We can not have Duke taste and APP budget. It just will not work.

I believe it is tricky how we spend money on the Holmes center because I do not believe the athletic dept. supports it since it is a "convocation" center. I am not 100% so please correct me if I am wrong.

Perfect opportunity for a corporate sponsorship, but we need to get the program turned around first.

It is a multi-purpose facility that is used by multiple groups on campus. It is maintained by a mix of state funds and revenues from events (non-athletic ticketed) and concessions.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

I don't like the idea of renaming buildings that have been named after people. "Conrad" became "Kidd Brewer", Kerr-Scott became Harper, Rally became Peacock.

Ahh got it..but maybe we can fix the step that look like crap out front before we spend "millions"?

We want more fans in, lets get some covered entrances and a parking deck near it. Maybe run shuttles between "Peacock"? lot and the HCC. And for Apps sakes, no inorganic nicknaming like the "Blackhole".

JC just for clarity, my memories say Saint has not been pushing for KBS expansion without the funding - he's a money guy - Now, there have been those who certainly have been beating that drum ---

My bad. I thought Saint was in that group.

My guess is that basketball doesn't generate enough income to justify the expense. While I agree enhancing the fan experience and keeping up with the "Joneses" are very important, we must establish a winning atmosphere first. Once that's done students and other fans will start attending games in larger numbers generating more interest and ultimately more money. The win...is the key. Fifty years of being an APP fan and only on three occasions have we really excelled in basketball. We've had some other good teams but the fact remains that we have NO basketball tradition and until we start winning it's hard, I think, to justify spending the dough.

I've actually pushed for no expansion until our season ticket sales reach 12k (50% of the stadium) and been blasted for setting metrics before we spend money. I believe in a simple supply demand model.

I'm also against the current look of the expansion used the last couple of years. When we expand next time it needs to be a long-term plan with multiple phases to stop the piecemeal look our stadium is getting.

If we can't do it right, wait until we can. If you don't have the patience for that, start raising more money now.

I'd rather have a really great basketball program.

Some covered entrances at the ticket booths would be helpful. At least at Varsity you could be inside while buying a ticket.

I was in Time Warner Arena today so I took a look at the scoreboard which was praised when it was unvield a few years ago. If we took the replica of the Charlotte skyline off the top it should fit. I still cant believe the Hornets talked the city into buying a new one.

Speaking from a coaching stand point, the hanging scoreboard is useless to the team. Have you ever tried to read the time remaining on that thing while dribbling down court? The only way it would be feasible would be to keep scores and game clock at each end of the court.
Yes but the recruits will find the stadium more legitimate and not like a huge highschool gym.
Syracuse, VCU, Gonzaga and Davidson do quite nice with. "High School gyms".
While we can agree that Davidson plays in a high school gym I think the jury is out about their success there. The have been playing a home schedule for decades that was appropriate to that gym. This year they are entering big boy basketball. Let's see how they do.
