Speaking of track records, Capel had won 47.3% of his ASU games entering this season. In comparison, Fancher won 50.2%, Cantwell 43.9%, and Maravich 18.2%. I agree with Hapapp that action is needed at the end of the year. I do want Capel to finish out the season though. I think the situation looks worse considering how poorly we played this nonconference season.

Our players do need our support. Constantly bashing the coaches and players is not the answer. If we really care, we'll come see them play this conference season. Hopefully we can tread water to next season. It's actually pretty easy to turn around a basketball program. All it takes is the right player or two.

Not to defend CC but Moore was at the end of his contract and Capel wasn't. Now, if he doesn't let Capel go, then I'll jump in that boat with you.

I do think this week will be a big one for Capel's immediate future. If we go 0 for the week, one has to wonder if he survives.

As I've said before, who can say that doing so (firing capel at mid-season) would be not be like jumping out of the pan into the fire? I say give up on this season and take a long, careful, and unbiased search for a new coach and staff with keeping in mind that we are going to have to pay much better than what we have been willing to do in the past decades. Paying more is no guarantee that we would find a vastly better and more competent leader than what we have in the past, but it sure wouldn't hurt.

Speaking of a big week for Capel--his first game is at Elon on Monday evening...that's Elon with an RPI of #100...weighing in at *get this* 244 RPI ranking positions better than ASU. That's simply surreal. We've never, ever been this hapless on paper. Never!

I've compared the rosters and earlier season schedules of both squads looking for a way for us to claw out an upset. I can't find it in the cards. Elon has too many big bodies and too many pure shooters for us to get a win in their *cracker box" with this team. Doesn't sound feasible.

I'm signing off with Elon (RPI 100) at home against ASU (RPI 344) still stuck in my craw. You can't make up scenarios like this.

Oh yea, we finish the week with UNC-G at home and Davidson away. Crowning the week of play looking for a win on Bob McKillop's back patio doesn't sound feasible, either. :? I guess my glass is half empty and leaking.

They have been up and down. They did beat Va Tech and lost to NCSU by 2. Like everyone in the SoCon this year, they aren't setting the world on fire.

Elon will host an App State team after the Phoenix dropped their SoCon opener today at Western.

True that! Today...

Men

WCU over Elon 74-62 at the RRAC in the 'whee
GaSouth over Samford 80-78 at the 'boro
UTC over Furman 73-63 at Timmons in G'ville
Davidson over Wofford 78-63 in Sparkle City

Women

Wofford over WCU 61-58 in Sparkle City
Furman over ASU 73-54 at Timmons in G'ville
UNC-G over Elon 73-62 in Fleming Gym
Davidson over Samford 83-68 in Birmingham
UTC over GaSouth 69-60 in ChooChoovile

Elon will host an App State team after the Phoenix dropped their SoCon opener today at Western.
Apparently Elon came unglued at Western, giving up 14 steals and another 23 turnovers. Ouch.

Well according to Urban Dictionary HO is what santa says three times when he sees your wife, sister, and mother all in one room. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=ho

But I'm going to guess he means hard on....aka boner.

Perhaps we should reach out to Bruce Pearl. He's still dealing with the show-cause penalty (which comes with recruiting issues until August 2014), and as a result we may be able to get him at a lower compensation amount. He has shown the ability to lead, coach, and produce winning programs. There are certainly a few skeletons in his closet, but he might be worth a look. Just a thought.

no Bruce Pearl. We will end up with a death penalty in hoops. Does t matter when we fire Capel. Everyone knows it's going to happen and this would prevent wasting any more scholarships on poor talent. And Charlie took a chance and it didn't work. He did make a good decision re: JM. So Bcoach we are still waiting for you to answer why you dislike CC so much to keep taking shots. With the money we have to work with I think our Athletic Dept does pretty well. The only thing I can figure is you were one of Rochel Laneys people.

Death penalty would be better than our hoops program right now....

Dislike has nothing to do with it and I am defiantly not the only one to express my feeling on him. I have a big problem with his decision making. First hire of Wilmington Willie ok maybe. Second hire what the hell are you thinking. Capel as a DIV1 coach with no experience at all? That is not taking a chance that is being reckless. He made a horrible decision with JM not in letting him go but by the way he did it. It could have been done in a professional manner but was not. He was the boos it was up to him and frankly Peacock to make sure they didn't leave such a division in the fan base. Last but not least it is up to him to raise the funds to finance things like an experienced BB coach. He also by this time should have raised the funds to pay off the last expansion. Is that difficult? Sure it is but that is his job. Again dislike has nothing to do with it, performance does.
I am also not one of anyone's people much less Laney. Why would you think that? It is pretty short sighted to think you have to be in favor of one or the other. I am in favor of someone with more talent and experience. Now that we have decided to join the Sunbelt future decisions are critical. We can't be reckless with decisions like the second BP hire and the Capel hire. I will finish by saying I respect your use of the word dislike as and adult would, rather that the 12 year old who has a thing for Santa.
