I disagree to a point on this point. The a lot of the discipline and fundamentals training is on the coaches to instill on the team. The fact that the team can't defend or break the press is an issue of coaching. The fact that nearly half of our shots last night is an issue of coaching. The fact that on a roster of ~15 we only use 8 even in the event of foul trouble. Yes the players have a lot of blame to shoulder, but I think a lot of it starts with the training and culture that Capel has/has not set up in the program.
I have no quarrel with what you say. But, when a coach goes over and over how to defend a certain play and the players fail to execute that's on them. No doubt, a good coach has the ability to communicate what needs to be done. There I find fault in the coaching, but the players ultimately have to execute.
When the coach can't get the team coached enough to handle regular plays and backdoors, then a goto play that Citadel probably works on every practice even with talking about in the huddle is not going to turn out well.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

My wife and I travelled up for the games. Happy with the Women's win BUT the Men were awful. They played with NO passion...except for Baskin and Obacha. They never figured out how to beat a zone defense. Point Guard play was pathetic...Burgess did play well in spurts! Rebounding was almost non-existent, especially down the stretch. We never played ZONE defense to offer them a different look or to make it more difficult to get the ball inside. Did not deserve this win!!!

We have our tickets to Asheville (VIP Package) so at least I will enjoy the free beer and food while at the Civic Center. May have to get drunk to watch our guys play...LOL!!!...watching them sober is just PAINFUL!!!

i hear you good doctor but i have an inside scoop for everyone...there is a guy down at unc-wilmington who seems to be burning it up down there and he seems to be a very loyal, focused family man who wants to put down roots somewhere...how bout here??? buck fuzz is his name...i think if we can get him, he'd stay for awhile and really turn this team around.

I want to use this clip for TPoEE to describe the game, but it's very NSFW so I won't. However I'll post it here.

I have tried to be patient with Jason Capel and turning this Mountaineer basketball program into a winner. We had a winner when Buzz Peterson was here and I was not in favor of hiring someone that had one year of experience as a BB coach for the HC position. To me, it was a joke, especially for App State to do this. However, I accepted the hiring because I am a loyal and dedicated MOUNTAINEER!

If anyone cares to remember, we also lost to El Cid last year at their place and they were just as terrible as this year. As a fan, I was deflated to say the least. And now we lose to the same lousy Citadel team, but at home, which is even worst!

Charlie, I said it last year and I will repeat myself...IT'S TIME!!! Don't put off the inevitable and let's ALSO have a winner in BB. This entire program stinks!!! Capel at one point had Donald Sims (#1 scorer in SoCon), Omar Carter (#3 scorer in SoCon) and Ike Butts and couldn't make that team a winner. The writing is on the wall.

The sad part is that we have the resources to be a winner in BB. Why isn't more emphasis placed on this sport? Darcie Vincent could coach this team on a part time basis better than the coaching staff we have right now. We have no business losing to The Citadel!!!

Kummer isn't enough of a Charlotte curse for you?

Now that is funny! I do not care who you are! Jason has NO help on the bench IMO! Soooo you may be right!

I just think Lutz can coach.....and recruit....I would have liked to see Jason on Lutz' staff if he had gotten the job when Buzz left.....but we did not even talk to him according to sources.
Go APPS!
