We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Devonte Graham
He's not in limbo, genius...he's paying the price for his "mistake" (which it isn't a mistake - it is a change of one's mind). He's learning a valuable lesson that actions have consequences. One that the real mentors in his life should be teaching him. Of course, people like you that run around yelling "#freedtae" aren't doing him any favors, but instead filling his head full of fluff like "you're being held hostage" and "you don't have to own up to the commitments you make". It's no wonder that the world is full of dead-beat dads. Young men are being told that they can just run away if something is hard or if they change their mind. The people around him had an opportunity to help this young man, but they're instead leading him down the path of being victim. And those people don't have to pay the penalty for it down the road.
Give 'em hell!

Re: Devonte Graham
If there were any mistakes made it was coach wasting a scholarship on a young man who does not live up to his commitments. That, I believe was an honest mistake. As BeauFoster just said the kid changed his mind. Where were all these geniuses who now know best, when he signed his letter with us? I think coach is being a great mentor. I think he is teaching the kid a lesson nobody else is willing to teach him.

But still at top of his class and leading his team to a National Championship.
He was a contributor, someone else got the MVP award he was the leader.

If you were any kind of mentor, you would help him to understand that part of being a MAN is owning your word. But you aren't, and your little game of hashtagging "freedtae" shows what a child you are. If you are in fact a product of Appalachian State, then you shame the diploma.
Im neither his handler, mentor or the kid, Just a fan who graduated from the same high school years earlier. A coach is suppose to be a mentor, With that being said Capel should have the students best interest at heart. If he wants to go, wish him well.
"being a MAN is owning your word"...Pretty sure his mentor told him the consequences before he chose to go Prep. So I have to say that the kid is or will become a helleva MAN. Making a choice for what HE wants to do with HIS life and accepting whatever terms there maybe. This kid asked to be released over a year ago and has walked around since then with future in limbo. But still at top of his class and leading his team to a National Championship.
I hashtag #Freedtae because thats what I believe
Kid made a mistake!!! Are any of you infallible?
When you make a mistake you MAN UP and deal with the consequences. It is called learning a lesson. This kid is already a diva in High School with a hashtag campaign. Loser in my book. Cant wait for him to sit out a year. I will gladly take a scolly of the table just to spite him for trash talking a school HE committed to.

Re: Devonte Graham
I have a humble suggestion. Why don't we all just forget that Devonte Graham ever existed so to speak? He's a zillion to one shot of ever coming to our Alma Mater and after all that has transpired, I don't see why we would want him now or ever, nor harbor any ill will toward him or those people who advised him nefariously.

Re: Devonte Graham
eventually, he will probably get his release, but I have no problem making him "twist in the wind" a bit longer. Personally, Im proud that my University took a stand, past administrations would have released him long ago, because they didn't have the guts to defy the bigger Universities. We are really going to miss Peacock and his attitude that Appalachian State University doesn't take shit from anyone, I hope the new Chancellor follows suit.

This! Peacock didn't play 'second fiddle' to any school. I hope she doesn't either!moehler wrote:eventually, he will probably get his release, but I have no problem making him "twist in the wind" a bit longer. I'm not taking sides on this, however I do find it ironic that many on here have said numerous times the ex-coach couldn't coach, couldn't teach, couldn't handle his players, couldn't manage a game BUT, you also hammer a kid you evidently decided too late he wanted no part of the situation which you guys clearly laid out each day ---

Re: Devonte Graham
DG should have known all that before he signed his LOI. He even signed early. He knew everything about APP Bball before he signed and the only thing that changed was he got a better offer (or thinks he could).WVAPPeer wrote:I'm not taking sides on this, however I do find it ironic that many on here have said numerous times the ex-coach couldn't coach, couldn't teach, couldn't handle his players, couldn't manage a game BUT, you also hammer a kid you evidently decided too late he wanted no part of the situation which you guys clearly laid out each day ---
I was all for holding him to his LOI, but I can see why Fox would cut him. I wouldn't what to have to deal with anyone elses problems either.
