If the kids want to storm the court, and they bring in some 3,000 to the game, storm the court after we win by half a hundred over Piedmont for all I care.
For the record, I am giving the thumbs up mainly for the phrase "half a hundred."

Maybe a bit for the sentiment, but mostly for the phrase.
I read it in Beowulf this week in class. I’ve been trying to fit it in a conversation and finally was able to do it.

Do you use the Seamus Heaney translation or do you use a prose translation? I guess you could have them read the Old English original text, but I am thinking that is not the case. ;)

I use whatever they have in the Holt McDougal text book. I do teach a couple lessons on Old and Middle English.

That was a weak rushing of the court.
Not sure it even warranted a rushing of the court. We were favored and in first place.
I’m okay with court storming against ranked/18-3 teams that talk crap, due to the fact that those opportunities come about once every 5 years. It might be some students/players only court storming at App during a 5 year span so let em rush!!!
It's certainly no crime. But, JMU wasn't ranked. I'm sure all teams talk crap at some point...not sure JMU does more than anyone else.

I saw nothing wrong with the officiating but my guess is if we were in Harrisonburg and we had twice as many fouls as JMU we would likely be complaining a bit. Granted a bunch of those fouls came the intentional route in the last three minutes or so.

No mention of the half-time show? That was fun and kept the crowd in a great mood and the participants clearly loved it. #6 especially.

Kerns was rather directly responsible for blowing the lead by giving the Duke Dawgs extra tics of the clock and at least four points they would never have scored otherwise. Not sure what the h*** he was trying to accomplish. Playing with fire isn't cool.

It clearly kept the spectators engaged and yelling together. Nothing against the Appalachian classic music folks but had they come out and played Debussy La Plus que Lente I am not sure the crowd would have recovered and the 2nd half may have taken a different tone.

At least press a bit with one person to eat up 2-3 seconds and if they burn you one time by somehow getting a 5 on 4 then back off a bit, but make them dribble up the court. That was at least 10-12 seconds on the conservative side we could have had the clock running. Instead of being 30 seconds it could have been 20 or 15 seconds or maybe less. That is a big difference in time.

That and taking out the knees of #1 would have been my strategy.

Listened to Kerns presser. Said, once he heard students were outside Holmes 4 or so hours before the game, be went out to meet and talk to them. Nice gesture he did not have to do.

It was a physical game and before the last 3 minutes JMU had roughly double the number of fouls App had. Heck, they used hack-a-Shaq on Abson 90 feet from the basket.

Keeping Abson, Spillers and Huntley out of foul trouble will be a challenge, although I thought the smaller lineup did really well on Thursday.

If I am JMU, my strategy is not the two bigs, I am setting screens for the two guards that can stroke it from 3...then letting Edwards penetrate on occasion when our guys guarding the 3. Although Asheville shot a crazy high %, that is the way to beat App even with lower % than what Asheville shot against us. JMU has 2 or 3 guys that can stroke. I would live or die by the 3 given the last two games have not worked by penetration.
JMUs bigs are not as good on offense to beat our bigs on defense. Just my opinion
