I'd like to have a G5 playoff and national championship to play for each year. G5 has no chance to do so under the current format. Levels below us can play for a championship, but we are locked out. Why not let us underlings have a chance to play for a G5 championship. I'd guess the cartel of networks and P5 would have to figure out how THEY can make money on it?

So basically, you want to re-create the I-AA split?

You are either a D1 FBS All American or not.....none of this G5 P5 crap. No separate championships......not interested in going back to a FCS format.

That's a good list. Could've seen Matics at the Kicker position too, although his FG attempted numbers are relatively low.

Yea, I'd rather just not get mentioned too. I mean if our two star guys can't compete with the 5 star guys at Alabama so be it. I mean Alabama owes more to the Tuscaloosa PD for this years game day policing than we will bring in over the next 5 years but we are equals because we are both D1 FBS. If we go undefeated next year we play for an NC right?

G5 is the new I-AA whether you admit it or not. The economic models, the facilities, the revenues, potential to pay players, everything are in different stratospheres. The gap is getting wider, not narrower. And the irrelevance of G5 is growing. The G5 slot will disappear, and eventually there will be an official split. I understand the different views, but IMO, a G5 playoff would be awesome and more meaningful than a low- or mid-level bowl.

G5 playoff would be terrible.
Just another "you guys had a great season but you'll never even have a chance to compete with the P5 level" season. The AAC has gotten a ton of media recognition this year, and if there were an official split, no one would even care, just like no one cares about the FCS now.

The answer is .. ..... NO, the NCAA Snubbing continues from the I-AA, FCS, now G5

Revere the 2005, 2006 & 2007 teams ....APP will never play for another national championship in football.

I am all for any and all positive recognition/awards our guys receive - It highlights the players, the team and the school.

If we go undefeated with our non-conference schedule next year, I think we would be in the conversation as the 1st legit party crasher. Especially if Tenn and the U live up to their hype. While I think that would put us firmly inside the top 15 and possibly top 10, I don't think the powers that be would let a G5 crash the top 4. Regardless, would be a hell of a lot more exposure and recogition for our program and school than one could ever dream of in FCS.

we could have gone 11-1 this season with our only loss to #1 Clemson and we would still be playing in one of the SunBelt bowl tie-ins --- that isn't going to change until the SB gets better tie-ins (doubtful) or more exceptions made by the big boys - ex. Houston this season ---
This season has been a great start for APP with hopefully only better things on the horizon !!!

I really feel as if we stayed sorta static when we went to the FBS. The P5/G5 split is very real and I think its only a matter of time until it is more "official". I do not want a G5 playoff (though I do wish there was a REAL FBS playoff). Essentially we are the "new 1-AA" though I HATE to say that. Yes we have the same scholarships, and we can compete for (some) recruits and even beat them on the field, but, off the field, we are the plucky little upstarts and that's the way they want it. The New Year's 6 invitation is the bone we are thrown. The P5 has the power/money/influence to be sure we (the G5) never get our hands in the cookie jar and they don't really even try to hide it. But, by the grace of God, we are here and it's sure a heckuva a lot better than what FCS, and especially the SoCon, has turned into.
