Blake Anderson Presser on Ark St Scout Site
If you get a minute, take a look at Blake Anderson's presser on their Scout site. He definitely has some history with Coach Satt. Talks about how they have discussed running game x's and o's over the years and was pretty complimentary of App overall for a while. Then, toward end of presser , he made several statements about how our record is a little misleading due to our WEAK schedule. I don't think that he really said WEAK but rather implied it by saying that we have done a good job of scheduling wins on our schedule during our transition - even mentioned Wyoming, Howard, and ODU by name. Guys definitely has a smarmy tone.

We sure had an easy portion of the schedule when we rolled through Jonesboro for an easy win in 2014. That was a piece of cake!

We need this win to show these people that we (App and GaSo) are not your typical transition teams. However, in some respects he is correct our schedule was front loaded with wins. It is tough from here on out. We will get everyone's best shot unlike last year when we were probably overlooked. I really hate this game is on a Thursday (second in three weeks). Those of us that can make it need to pack the lower levels and get loud.

When the schedule was made, ODU was not a weak opponent and Southern Miss, our originally scheduled opponent, is on par with us and Ark State in rankings until we jumped up a bit in teh last two weeks. We did not schedule cupcakes, it just turned out a bit that way. We also didn't expect Clemson to be in the CFP picture when scheduled. History would have suggested them to be about #20.
MoSt and Howard are comparable scheduling for a G5.
Mizzou is not the dominant team they expected to have at home. But they didn't plan on Toledo being as good as they were. I am sure they expected a solid, tossup type, G5 matchup as we did with ODU when booked. They also miss GS in the belt, so they are a conference schedule cupcake winner.

Eh, just listened to it, and don't have any issue with it. He said we scheduled smart, gave ourselves games we had a chance to win. Did mention Clemson as well. If he was trying to be passive aggressive, it was pretty subtle. And, of course, he's correct.
Overall quite complimentary of our program.

My god the "easy schedule" discussion/argument has been beaten to death. What difference does it make prior to a game? I know that comments made by coaches are often part of the gamesmanship (whatever)but for crying out loud the time spent justifying schedules is such a waste. If we had booked Campbell, Howard and Lenoir Rhyne a few years ago I could see the relevance but, based on prior records and based on expectations our OOC schedule wasn't that bad. A year ago nobody was saying that our 2015 schedule was front loaded with cupcakes. Everyone knew what Howard was but I agree, ODU and Wyoming should be better. It is really weak for their coach to even mention our schedule. If there is such a disparity they should absolutely run us out of our building because we are obviously fraudulent. Just play the games on the schedule and see what happens. Just like with the BCS/playoffs everything typically washes out by the end of the season. If you are good you are good. If you are a product of a weak early schedule it will show by year end. We will see how good some of the top G5's are after they play their round robin. We will also see how good some of the Big 12 teams are, etc.

Easy smeasy.... when we beat Arky State that''ll make them look worse since we've had such an easy schedule. Sure hate to be beat by a team with an easy schedule....Oh NO!

I agree with you. The strength of our schedule is largely beyond our control. I will add that we are no doubt the only team in the Belt that wants to play GS every year.Appalachman wrote:When the schedule was made, ODU was not a weak opponent and Southern Miss, our originally scheduled opponent, is on par with us and Ark State in rankings until we jumped up a bit in teh last two weeks.
