What the Heck?
Is it unusual for a conference to have less than 30% of its members to have winning records this late in the season? If I calculated correctly only three of our eleven Sun Belt teams have overall winning records thus far.

Our conference is a whipping boy for big money schools Clemson, Alabama, and USC just to name a few.

Re: What the Heck?
# of G5 Conference teams with winning records.
AAC - 5 of 12
CUSA - 4 of 13
MWC - 4 of 12
MAC - 6 of 13
SBC - 3 of 11
P5 Conferences - roughly 50% of teams have winning records.
Looking at who has a winning record doesn't reveal much. Overall schedules paint the Sun Belt much worse. 5 of 11 teams in the conference have 2 or fewer wins on the season, and that is very bad. The Sunbelt is getting better though with teams like Troy improving, so there's that.

Re: What the Heck?
My feeling is most teams in the G5 have two distinct seasons the pay your bill season and the play for a bowl game season. We are fortunate because of our high fan support and the ability to make enough money with home games that we only need one P5 game to pay the bills. Other schools that don't draw squat have to play many more so they can keep the lights on. That's going to lead to worse records.

Re: What the Heck?
It'll probably improve now that we are in conference play. Looking at the schedules Texas State has the potential to go 7-5 and Troy and ULM could finish the season 6-6 if they keep playing strong. Troy has a big hump in two weeks though to get there.
