Poor attendance but great students

Unread post by 8993 » Sat Oct 03, 2015 9:02 pm

As expected, attendance was poor today. I'm not sure if they ever announced the attendance, but I wouldn't guess it to have been over 15,000 or so. The weather was hugely detrimental to this game, so I understand people not heading up the mountain this time around.

On the other hand, the students were phenomenal today, in my opinion. They showed up in what was, for the most part, absolutely horrendous conditions. Huge kudos to them for keeping the student section (and the stadium) alive when most were cold, soaked, and miserable. They were absolutely great.

With a state of emergency and legit landslide possibilities, I don't blame people for not driving up the mountain. Everyone gets a pass for this one.

Agreed. I was there until the last snap, but I don't begrudge anyone who couldn't make it. I've heard some folks say "Well, what about Clemson?". There is a big difference between I-85 and some of our roads, with potential mudslides and the fact we had a ten inch rainfall head start.i don't however, understand why Boone sports bars were overflowing during the game (so I've heard). Regardless, make plans, take off, fake sick, whatever it takes, let's pack the Rock for the Stink.

Clemson's got one of their best teams they've had in awhile and they were playing Notre Dame.

Their stadium wouldn't have been packed for Wyoming.

When we have a great shot at the playoff, play one of the most famous teams in college football at home, and have a rainstorm flooding our area, I believe our stadium will still be packed.

Thank you for that perspective. It has been sorely lacking in discussions about attendance, or lack thereof.
