APP STATE / WYOMING WX TRENDS #2

Unread post by WXAPP » Wed Sep 30, 2015 6:36 pm

Heavy rains already in the Boone zone this evening will feed into the potential for rapid rise and flooding if we get heavy rain up there Saturday. There's a ton of tropical moisture that will be in the area. So, yup, rain it appears it will be. Much of NC will be under the gun for potential flooding, the exact zone, or footprint, just can't be nailed down at this point. Even if the hurricane remains out to sea, the upper level flow, keeps lots of tropical moisture across the area.

Winds will likely be breezy with some gusts to 25 MPH at times.

I'll update Thursday.

Dry or soggy... any way you slice it... I say,

Based on the forecast is there any reason to think an earlier start time would be beneficial? I know that it is homecoming and there is a parade in the AM. I was just wondering if conditions were expected to worsen over the course of the day and the admins might decide on an earlier start time.

If it avoids a monsoon, I'd be up for an earlier kick. By the way, the Parade is On Friday this year and years going forward.

No.. and earlier start would not help the situation. Soggy all around and at anytime Friday through early Sunday AM.

FYI, the parade was moved to Friday and has now been cancelled (in case you missed the thread).
