It's been raining since Friday here in Boone. 8" and counting. Ray says mostly cloudy with showers possible for Saturday.

WXAPP will give us the definitive forecast by Thursday. He sounded moderately optimistic in his early look post yesterday.

Working on the forecast. I can tell you, beyond Thursday, it's complex and a lot is up in the air. The tropical system is part of the proverbial fly in the ointment as of today. I'll post Wednesday on it. Get your brain wrapped around rain, and hope we get some "Mountaineer Magic" To witness today's model output rainfall potential... would be to secure an ark... Consistency is lacking in run to run right now.. Just not fully in the camp of soggy mess as of 4:30 PM Tuesday.

I've been planning this trip with my family now for over three months. I don't give a ratt's behind, rain, sleet, snow, or whatever my ass is going to be at the game. Till the final second clicks off the clock. My ass isn't moving!! Go Apps!!!

Want to cure a drought? Wait until Appalachian begins its football season.

This is true, either that or plan a kayak/camping trip to West Virginia, drought is sure to end!

I know bad weather during football season goes in cycles, during my sons time at App, 2002-2005 while i didn't attend every home game the majority i did was rain free. Oh i forgot the cold rain, sleet game with Southern Illinois in the playoffs. Man that was the coldest my body has ever endured!!

Wait. We're all Mountaineers. The weather forecast doesn't tell us whether or not we attend a game; it only tells us what to wear for the game ... right?

I can't wait for the game Saturday. See you at The Rock!

As of Wednesday morning at 5:53, the weather forecast has taken a turn for the worse. The NWS is now calling for a 100% chance of heavy, potentially flooding rain, with 2-3 inches during the day on Saturday and another inch Saturday night. The monsoon season continues through Monday. Keep us posted WX, and everyone be careful!

Yea, Ray's does not paint a pretty picture. Not just rain flooding rain. My daughters apartment parking lot is already under two feet of water on the low side.

dam, this was shaping up to potentially be one of the largest crowds we have had in years, plus I thought I read somewhere that we would have a large group of recruits in Boone this weekend. Now, with all the flooding this week, and the potential for more flooding this weekend, you can understand if people change their plans and stay home. This is depressing, it looks like we are going to miss a great opportunity to showcase our game day atmosphere to our recruits.

I know that football games are not typically affected by rain unless there is lightning involved, but with the rain amounts I am seeing forecast (up to 10" around Greensboro and 8" for Hickory), I wonder if there is any possibility of the game being postponed or altered in any way?

I could see them considering delaying or even cancelling the game as late as Friday ,if we were playing a local NC team, or a somewhat close East Coast team, ie: SC or Georgia, but Wyoming is traveling cross country, that is a long way to come to find out your not playing the game. If they were to consider doing this, they would have to make a decision probably today, because Wyoming is probably traveling on Thursday. That's really tough to do, since weather forecasting is so inaccurate, imagine what would happen If the game is cancelled, Wyoming never makes the trip, and we have a beautiful, or atleast a decent Saturday.

A few years back I remember watching an East Carolina game on TV and they were playing in the middle of a tropical storm. And, let me tell you it was raining its arse off. Game went on as planned.

The upcoming storm is going to be from the Mid Atlantic up through New England, many games will be in it's path.

I agree this is terrible timing. But like you say Boone is already flooded in the low lying areas. No relief in sight..... I am heading up early Friday with the intention of going to the beer garden event. If it is as bad as the early look I will just have my own craft beer fest at the cabin. Lowes on 105 carries AMB cans. Get me a 4 pack of Long Leaf and I am good to go.

Both App and Wyoming have November 21st as a bye week if it comes to that. It would mean no bye week til the end of the season for both teams.

Like I stated previously, App isn't the only school affected by this damn storm. Believe it or not it will be worse the further east and north you go. Not knowing the entire weekend schedules, off the top of my head, the following schools are in a bad way too (just to name a few): Virginia Tech, Maryland, Marshall, Boston College, East Carolina, etc.
