These games will be on "real" TV for many. ESPN College Extra will replace the old College Gameplan service.

Looks like it will be part of a sports pak subscription. On DirecTV that package is $13.99 per month and will give you all the regional sports channels plus up to 10 out of market ESPN3 games per week.

This is huge! Benson needs to be working ESPN hard to ensure that the Sunbelt has one or two of the stations weekly.

It will be all based on potential ad sells which means viewership. With that said I like that we have more chances for better outlets and Benson does need to push as hard as he can.

I thought I saw a sked for week 1 and our game with Howard was one of them being broadcast.

I believe these 8 channels are included with the $8.99/month TWC Sports Pass. And our Howard game is set to be televised on one of those channels.

And they are showing us because we do have a certain appeal to a broader audience across the country that will lead to the ability to sell those ads.

ESPN3 is picking up the Howard game because they have no skin in the game. It's my understanding that they've made arrangements to pick up the feed of the "local telecast" that David Jackson has organized.

Do they, ESPN, split the ad revenue with us or keep it all for what they may generate from the game?

I assume there will be a few ads sold. Though sometimes ESPN3 shows a "we will be back" picture when an ad would appear but there is nothing to show.

This might be a stupid question but will this result in more blackouts for those of us who only use Roku etc and don't have traditional cable/satellite?

That shouldn't be an issue. If you have access to watch ESPN you should be just fine.
