This begs the question, can Kameron Bryant qualify for a medical hardship? He dressed for all five games, but I believe he played in only one. Anybody want to take a gander at how that works for someone who has already used his redshirt season?

I'm not sure how it works but this is very similar to some of the players who have been granted a 6th year of eligibility. I think he should have a good shot. The kid only played a handful of plays.

Only matters if you play so should get the redshirt.

Houston QB Case Keenam got a medical redshirt to come back last year after going down in his 3rd game. Don't know where they draw the line but he was starting in those.

Kam was redshirted last year... its hard to get two redshirts -- regardless of injury..

I know its possible, but it's not easy to do. Matt Cline got one, so hopefully Kam can get one..

Thought it was pretty easy if the first redshirt is not medical and the 2nd one is.

Medical redshirts can be granted if a player plays less than 20% of his team's total games played and all must be before the halfway point of the season. Bryant meets, or will meet, both of those criteria so he should be eligible for a medical redshirt if the school chooses to pursue it.

A player is eligible for NCAA medical hardship consideration so long as he hasn't played in more than 20 percent of his team's games during the season in which the injury occurred. It's not automatic. Each applicant is considered on the merits of his case; or lack of same.

yeah I don't think it has anything to do with the number of plays - it could be one play or 100 but the basic cut-off for football is the 3rd game - not sure how it will affect Kam since he didn't participate in the first 3 - I would say it is not a sure bet ---

Yeah, that was supposed to have said total games played, not total plays and it was supposed to say 20%, not 30%. That's what I get for trying to post from my phone.

The cutoff is the halfway point of the season. A player cannot play in more than 20% of the team's total contests and all games played have to fall within the first half of the season.
