analysis of 2015 OOC Schedules

Unread post by AppFan11 » Fri Mar 20, 2015 9:03 pm

Ok lets take a look and rate the out of conference schedules of the SunBelt this season.

1. Troy - NCST, Wisc, Miss St, Charl So.......... 3P5 1 Fcs
2. NMST - UF, Ole Miss, NM, UTEP ...............2P5 2G5
3. ULM - UGA, Bama, Tulsa,Hawaii, Nich St...2P5 2G5 1Fcs
4. Ark St - USC, Mizzo, Toledo, Mizzo St ....... 2P5 1G5 1Fcs
5. GASO - WVU, UGA, WMU, Citadel ........... 2P5 1G5 1 Fcs
6. Idaho - USC, Auburn, Ohio, Wofford ........ 2P5 1G5 1Fcs
7. USA - Neb, NCST, San Diego St, GW......... 2P5 1G5 1Fcs
8. App - Clemson, ODU, Wyoming, Howard....1P5 2G5 1Fcs
9. GaSt - Oregon, Charlotte, Ball St, Liberty...1P5 2G5 1Fcs
10. TXST - FSU, So.Miss, Houston, PrVw......... 1P5 2G5 1Fcs
11. ULL - Kentucky, LaTech, Akron, NwSt...... 1P5 2G5 1Fcs

I always think its interesting to look at the OOC schedules. Obviously, Troy is paying the cost of paying their new coach $670K. Essentially there are 5 groups, group 1 Troy 3P5 1Fcs; group2 NMST 2P5 and 2G5; group 3 ULM 2P5 2G5 1Fcs; group 4 Ark St, GASO, Idaho, and USA 2P5 1G5 1Fcs; and group 5 App, GaSt, TXST, ULL 1P5 2G5 1Fcs. Other than being within a certain group there is no order. Yes we are in the off-season.

I like our model:
1 Money road game. They're fun for our fans to go to and they help fund other sports.
2 Home & Home games vs. peers. Good for benchmarking our program and getting competitive games to the Rock.
1 "pre-season" home game.

If Troy's able to get Home & Home's with the P5 teams, I'm jealous.

Troy does not have a home game w/ any of the P5 teams but Arky St does ... they are playing Mizzo at home this season. I too like our model and next season our model changes to 1 guarantee game and 3 G5 games... an all FBS schedule.

My guess is Troy had this schedule set up before they hired their new coaches.

I like this model too. I don't mind 1 FCS team on the schedule. Although I will add, Howard is the last FCS team on the schedule until at least 2018 (as already mentioned). 1 money game and 3 against FBS peers.

I doubt we will schedule FCS games until late from here on out.

Yep, I don't see App scheduling any FCS games in the future unless somebody backs out. Maybe a lone game with ETSU.
