Offensive Wrinkle

Got to watch the game this week on ESPN 3 down here in Brunswick County. I love the pistol look with an H Back and a tight end in the backfield. Those off tackle plays in the 4th quarter had the look and feel of the power I and basically ground ULL down and put the dagger in their heart. Kudos to Satterfield for this offensive scheme, and to the team for executing. It's pretty depressing when you know what is coming and can't stop it.

What I am excited about though, even though we are improving each week, there is still a LOT of room for improvement. The sky is the limit for this TEAM. The next two to three years will be fun to watch.

Get to come to my first game (this year) this week. Looking forward to watching the Apps in person, and congratulating them on a great season. What a turnaround.

On paper at least, there is every reason to think this team has A LOT of room left to grow:

- Extremely young 2-deep: 20 starters returning, including 14 freshmen/sophs.

- What appears to be an improved S&C program getting its first full offseason.

- 20 redshirt freshmen plus three (and counting) jucos coming in next year - much deeper team and better special teams.

- More experience for Lamb + influx of WRs should mean a more dynamic passing game to incorporate with the power run game. Should be a very versatile offense that can adjust to attack any defensive game plan or personnel.

Obviously the players still need to have the focus and maturity to reach their potential. But it's all there for them.

We installed the H back at the beginning of the year. Things are really clicking, hate we are done after this weekend.

See you all in Boone Saturday!

I know we brought in the staff from Nevada before last year to learn the PIstol offense, but only sprinkled it in. This year, we've been pretty much exclusive to the PIstol. Can't remember the last time I've seen a running back of ours line up next to Taylor
