Hopefully we can take down what was, at best, the 11th best basketball team in NC history.

Talent-wise the '83 champs paled in comparison to the '74 team, but I have to admit that was one crazy run they made. Probably the only time before or since I found myself pulling for them.

I agree. The 83 team played their way into the tournament. They played 9 elimination games in a row and won the whole thing but a team that lost 10 games is not even close to the 82 Tar Heel team that was preseason #1 and lost two games all year. And yes you are correct in that the 74 NC ST team was probably better than both of them.

DT & AE were parallels in their respective divisions.
