Interesting. One the one hand, it's great we're getting FBS schools at home. On the other, I hate not having USM at home next year. I was really looking forward to that.

I have nightmares of that game and another "W" "Y" "O" first down in the pouring rain.

It is a fairly short drive from Denver however.

Their coach is NDSU's old coach, so they'll be on the upswing.

I really wanted to play S. Miss at home next year is the downside to this.

Agreed. Was looking forward to So. Miss being our first FBSer in KBS.

Heard about this on Saturday, but didn't want to say anything until it was official. I'm okay with Wyoming. Gives us a chance for some revenge.

The upside, personally, is that I've never been out there so this may be a good opportunity to do just that.

Can't say I understand this one.

-Weaken our 2015 home schedule by replacing Southern Miss with a lesser-known opponent (IMO).

-Despite Wyoming's lesser name, they are actually better than USM, so we might be hurting our chances for a win.

-The return game isn't until 2021, so it's not like there was urgent need to fill an opening.

-Not an easy trip for fans (or the team).

-Not part of our recruiting footprint.

My hope is that this line at the end will shed some light on the reasoning behind this move: "Appalachian State expects to finalize additional home-and-home series in the near future."

With that said, I might consider making the trip out there, just because I've never been to that part of the country. For anyone who went before, what was your experience like?

-Not part of our recruiting footprint.

Now that we are FBS we have a national footprint for recruiting. I know we will mostly stay in NC, SC, GA but remember the kid from California?

1, Wyoming isn't California.

2, I don't think one kid means we have a national footprint. Pretty much everyone in FBS recruits regionally - Bama, Texas, FSU, you name it. Yes you might occasionally stumble upon a kid from outside that region (like with Barrett, who Moose said had some previous connection to App), but we won't be actively recruiting the West regularly.

The return trip being in 2021 raised my eyebrows. It makes me wonder if I'll be tailgating from the back of my flying car when we get this mystery ACC to Boone.

Can't remember for sure - however wasn't it next year's So Miss game the one some on this board were afraid we might have cancelled on us because of So Miss wanting to schedule a big boy --- maybe it was Alabama? ---

Would love to get a little revenge on the Pokes for that 04 beatdown. Love their logo but their uniform colors are damn ugly. The more FBS home games App can schedule the better.

Only reason would be happy with this IF SoMiss was going to cancel their 2015 Boone visit and Beasley OKd this to keep the home SoMiss game.

"As part of a scheduling arrangement between several schools"

I am sure App didn't have that many options. Bring on the Pokes.

There's nothing about Laramie worth mentioning. The trip there from Denver can be a nice little excursion if you stay off the interstate. One thing that sticks out other than how poor App played, and the storm delay, was that their stadium parking area was a gravel lot. And of course, their school colors are turd brown and gold.
