Michigan Wolverines

It’s a big year for Devin Gardner, and an even bigger year for Brady Hoke. The combination of quarterback and head coach have come under a great deal of scrutiny in Ann Arbor recently, and predictions for this season are all over the map. Gardner is a former five-star recruit with oodles of talent, but he has failed to put it together since taking over as the starter on a full-time basis, and the weapons around him (with the exception of tight end turned wide receiver Devin Funchess) aren’t terribly inspiring. Still, Gardner is fully healthy at this stage, and if he is going to blossom, the stage is set behind a solid offensive line and with Doug Nussmeier calling the shots.

Defensively, the Wolverines are actually set up to be quite good. Defensive end Frank Clark, cornerback Blake Countess, and outside linebacker Jake Ryan are each All-Big Ten quality, and Hoke’s ability to recruit at an elite level has helped replace the depth that waned under Rich Rodriguez. Michigan is going to need a big-time defensive effort to earn “breakout” status, but it’s conceivable.

I've been reading some of the Michigan board material. They seem pretty pumped about a simpler, more effective offensive scheme. Time will tell ...

The more simple offense, run on first down, run on second down, run on third down, and hell run on forth down if they need too.

Get used to an Alabama power run offense.

Maybe we should ask Ga Southern how they played Alabama on defense?
