Here we go!

I think it will be good for both. We are close enough together that both fan bases will be able to travel. Should be a packed house at both locations. This should be an annual game but I doubt you will hear many positive remarks on this board.HighFlying49er wrote:Just came here to post the same thing! I'm looking forward to it as well as a trip up to KBS to watch my Niners play. Also looking forward to having the Appys down to Richardson Stadium, which will likely be expanded by then.
I think this is a win for both fan bases. Thoughts?
*Game was over student fall break. Fact is if we don't expand there won't be anywhere for you to sit.ASUPATCH wrote:Expanded Richardson stadium. I watched your game against Gardner Webb and you barely had that baby half full. Fill up what you got before adding on.

What do you want me to say? Sorry that our chancellor enforces roughly half the stadium being devoted to student tickets and that those students weren't on campus? You singled out one game of the season to take a shot at us. I am simply stating why the stadium was half full. Want me to take a shot at your basketball attendance? Or how about some of the playoff home games in football?ASUPATCH wrote:NWA49 wrote:*Game was over student fall break. Going off of your inaugural season and already having to make attendance excuses isn't a strong argument for expansion. Show me 2-3 years down the road after taking your lumps in CUSA.
I saw RT's of the ticket office BEGGING students to pick up free tickets all season. There's clearly not much of a demand.NWA49 wrote:What do you want me to say? By 2018 each team will have had equal opportunity to be at a level playing field. This year we are still playing walkons and you have FBS kids coming in. Not exactly a fair fight. By 2018 we will have both transitioned to our conferences and recruited at an FBS level for awhile.EastHallApp wrote:I know some don't agree, but I think this is a no brainer and great news. Only bad part is that it won't happen until 2018. Should have been in place starting this year or next year at the latest.
Regardless, there are several benefits for App:
- Easy trip for alumni
- Charlotte media coverage
- Possible rivalry
- Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting
Yeah that is how they communicated with students to pick up tickets. Remember we are new to this football thing. First first games had plenty of confusion on how that was working. Not a basketball discussion - but an attendance one. Take a shot at ours and I will take a shot at yours.Gonzo wrote:I saw RT's of the ticket office BEGGING students to pick up free tickets all season. And this isn't a basketball discussion.
It could, but could also get ugly for the Mountaineers. A lot can happen in 4 years time - Don't believe your long run of success can come to a crashing end? Just ask Southern Miss. And who knows what the next years of the Satterfield era have in store? It's why we play the game. The important thing is that both of our AD's see what these games can do for fan bases located just a few hours apart.Gonzo wrote:Finally a judgment day. It could get ugly for the Niners.
I think there are enough level headed App fans on this board to at least give it some good discussion. I would love to see this series become more of the norm as it is a great game for both fan bases. I will absolutely be in KBS for this along with my family.appbio91 wrote:This should be an annual game but I doubt you will hear many positive remarks on this board.
Even less enthusiastic than your game against Campbell next year? Geeze, that hurts!TheMoody1 wrote:I couldn't be more underwhelmed. Eventually, I hope we can actually get some good games.
Looks like you guys have Temple and Georgia State on the schedule for 2015, and Temple, Eastern Michigan and Kansas St.(!) for 2016. All of those have been FBS longer than us. Kansas State's one year removed from the Fiesta Bowl. Surely App can't be THAT scary.NWA49 wrote:By 2018 each team will have had equal opportunity to be at a level playing field. I agree. I could see this becoming a weekend trip for my family every other fall. Rent a house, come up on a Friday afternoon, wear Green in KBS on Saturday, spend Sunday in Boone or along the parkway. On the alternate years, host my App friends at our tailgate in Charlotte. What's not to love?moehler wrote:this is great news, I glad both sides put their egos aside to finally make this happen. I also get why its going to be 2018, there is no way UNCC could compete in the next couple of years, gives them time to get their program up to speed and competitive. Hopefully, this will lead to a annual game, Alot of money to be made by getting these two programs togeather.
