Elliot
Heard at the game from someone who SEEMED to know what they were talking about that the reason he didn't take the job (if it indeed was offered) was because after noting that Elliot was considering the job, Spurrier upped his pay by $85K.

Re: Elliot
He may not have ever been offered, bet Spurrier preemptively did that to prevent it from happening.

Re: Elliot
its a dead issue but thats not what close folks to the deal told me...but again...no biggie now.
Re: Elliot
I'm sure it's been discussed on here, but I didn't know it. Elliot's the co-offensive coordinator (with Steve Spurrier Jr.). He got that title before the start of the 2012 season.
When I Googled him, it sounded like he turned down a chance to coach at Alabama last year and it seems like Gamecocks wouldn't be against him replacing Spurrier when the ol' ball coach steps down. Frank Beamer wanted him to be his offensive coordinator.
I don't think we had a choice between Elliot and Satterfield. Elliot wasn't coming. He's going far, though.

Re: Elliot
Also South Carolina just got a commitment from the top lineman in the state. He may end even being the top overall prospect in the state. He was quoted as to how much he liked Elliot
Re: Elliot
Last year I meet one of the starting OL for the gamecocks, when I mentioned Elliott, the kids face lit up, and he told me how much he loved playing for him. Elliott is a rare breed, he can really coach, and he gets the kids to believe in him to the point where they are willing to run thru a wall for him

Re: Elliot
Stacy Searles was also an excellent OL Coach and developed a lot of talent with small kids that weren't heavily recruited by any of the G5 type schools. Anyone know where he is currently coaching??? and I haven't given up on Ledford yet!

Re: Elliot
If you had a chance to stay at USC (SEC) for almost $600,000/year with a head coach who REALLY likes you or come back to Boone and make what Scott is making (less than half that), the finances alone make that a very easy decision. My wife would certainly agree!!!
Re: Elliot
his family is from SC and the rumor was they wanted to move back closer to family, A lot of fans complained that we didn't go after Elliott hard enough, but Cobb and Peacock knew its was a waste of time and resources to try and convince him to come back to Boone.

Re: Elliot
As I posted earlier post that part of the deal breaker was that Spurrier authorized an 85,000 dollar raise for Elliot to stay.moehler wrote:his family is from SC and the rumor was they wanted to move back closer to family, A lot of fans complained that we didn't go after Elliott hard enough, but Cobb and Peacock knew its was a waste of time and resources to try and convince him to come back to Boone.

Re: Elliot
Here is what he makes:
Three other coaches will receive raises to make $300,000 each – offensive line coach/running game coordinator Shawn Elliott; defensive line coach Brad Lawing; and wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator Steve Spurrier Jr. Elliott got the biggest pay boost from last year at $115,000.
