Thank you for posting. I would love for ASU to join the MAC as it is stronger in academics than the other conferences. It fields more sports than the Sun Belt. It has a conference championship game and 3 bowl tie-ins. We could be competitive. The geography isn't as bad as most think.

The MAC always has a couple good teams - look what Ohio U did going into Penn State and beating them with all that emotion with the N.Lions ---
+ isn't the MAC who JMU would like to join? ---

Yes, but unless UMass leaves (which I think could be the next CUSA team) then there's only one spot available. JMU may have the inside track on us given their closer proximity. I would be ok with the MAC.

Looking at that footprint, the MAC does not appeal to me in the least, but if that's our only shot at moving up for the near future, so be it. I can certainly agree there are some good programs in there and the academic fit would be better than the Belt.

Does anyone know what the entry and exit fees for the MAC are? The Sun Belt currently has no exit fees which makes it an easy stepping stone, just wondering about the MAC?

Wasn't thrilled with MAC idea but it's starting to grow on me. They have solid schools academically and while we would be on the southern extreme of the conference most of the schools would be within a reasonable distance. Understand that there are closer schools in both CUSA and SBC, but there are also some schools that are a lot farther from Boone.
