Noise at Wa-Griz

Yall:
I have heard no mention of preparation for the noise level at Wa-Griz. Anybody heard? I recall Armanti signaling only with hand signals for plays.

If Coach does not prepare for some real noise, we're going to get hammered & look like idiots. In Dec. 2009, that was the loudest stadium I have ever attended. Granted it is only about 25k, but the field is built down in a hole and the seats are really close to the sidelines. I know I could not scream to either son sitting beside me & be heard. I think the decibel level is somewhere akin to being on the tarmac of an airport.

They've been practicing with music on to prepare for the noise. Jamal has been quoted saying they are working on silent hand signals to get ready for Montana.

They are preparing with loud music and other distractions during practice. I went and watched a practice and they had the KBS sound system set on 11.

They are preparing:

We have it loud, just like we have to deal with crowd noise in most stadiums we play in, and the noise does get players accustomed to focusing on hand signals. When we go to Montana, they’re not going to be able to hear us talk.

I expect this game to be louder. Should be about 2,000 more fans than the 2009 playoff game, plus an additional 6 hours of tailgating (most kickoffs are 1pm) should have everyone tuned up and ready to go...not to mention the first regular season game under the lights. I doubt noise will be much of a factor for App State though.

Maybe 6 more hours of tailgating will put the Griz fans in such a stupor they don't even realize they have home field advantage.

Someone from Montana answer this for me....I was on thier board last year and alot of fans have been complaining that its not been as loud as normal especially last year with rising ticket prices. And Im only asking but did the stadium people stop letting people back in after halftime. Once you leave you cant get back in. Either way looking forward to the trip. Win or Lose Ive heard its one stadium you have to visit....

Fans can leave at halftime and come back in. That is the most common complaint, that being the stadium is only at 60-70% capacity at 2nd half kickoff because of excess tailgating.

I think it's as loud for big games as it always was. The problem -- as with any successful, popular program -- is that it becomes the place to be "seen" rather than heard. Too many people are there to socialize and not vocalize. But I have a feeling, with all that Montana has been through and with you guys coming to town for 7:00 pm kickoff, it'll be pretty loud in there on the 31st.
