Sigh.

I don’t doubt he’s a great dude but All I see is another re-tread app coach that couldn’t get a job somewhere else

He’s been doing this same role at Louisville and Cincinnati since he left. He’s coming home.

GO APPS!!

Just curious, What does a Senior Assistant to the Head Coach do? Responsibilities?

...sorry...every time someone mentions eagle creek I get an uncontrolable urge to scream at the top of my lungs what it actually is...

Would that be helping run the administrative side of things? I don’t really know what he did day to day, but I can imagine it’s a lot of the thankless aspects of the job that need to get done.

Coach Speir will have a number of responsibilities, all of which free up bandwidth for Clark.

Plus, having HC experience will help him recognize where/how he can best support Coach Clark.

There is nothing negative about Speir’s return. He is a known quantity that understands the program and has strong relationships in place…all of which make him infinitely superior to a new hire that doesn’t.

Yes, as well as analysis. Lance was over Shawn’s shoulder on the sideline toting the analytics binder. I think he can also work with players in practice but not on gameday.

I'd love to see a breakdown of the coaching staff to include the duties that each performs. I'm like a lot of people who don't understand what some of these assistant guys do. For instance what does a linebacker coach do besides coach that group? There has to be something else.

But that's why I'll always respect Erk Russel, despite where he coached. That man almost literally made chicken salad out of chicken sh#t. He convinced, and convinces people to this day, that Statesboro is some awesome place to be and not a gnat-infested plain.
Go look up the famous "We are Georgia Southern" quote. Literally everything he says is an exaggeration or leaves an important detail out. "The co-eds outnumber the men 3-2. They're all good looking, and they're all rich." He doesn't say anything about smart, because if they were smart they'd be at UGA. "Our weekends begin on Thursday." Because their academics aren't important, and there's nothing else to do in Statesboro but drink.
The dude sold snake oil, and they are still buying it long after he's been gone.

I would really, really, really, like to see us have a special teams coach. Since drink left we have been in the mode of just surviving special teams plays. I know it’s a budget thing but you can win and lose games on special teams plays.

And, it beats the hell out of living in Cullowhee, Louisville or Cincy

Isn't Haines the special teams and RB Coordinator?
