They opened the segment with the Hail-Mary and the Fans on the field and within the segment they showed the TD reception against Texas A&M and the interview with Coach Clark after the game with a shot of the fans in downtown Boone --- How many millions saw that this morning??? - How many of those millions would know we had a mediocre season??? - Few, is my guess

So 6-6 next year is cool as long as we make it on ESPN with a hail mary win at home, and beat say UNC, but UNC end up going 5-7 and not as good as projected pre-season?

I get the point about the publicity, but to rely on highlights just to build on a brand is not sustainable. As huge as the Michigan win was in 2007, the brand and interest doesn't expand the way it does without the continued success.

6-6 is not cool in any shape or fashion. However, it was extremely cool to have some of the most memorable plays and games of the year and to have those highlights on the biggest platform in the sport. Even finishing the season with a sorry whimper I'll take it and hope for better results next season. Any publicity like that can't put a dollar amount on regardless of final results this year.
Thank You GameDay for hosting and putting our guys in the season highlights.

I framed it as a question for those that find silver lining in a 6-6 season.

Hold up... so because someone pointed out we're still getting media attention even after one of our worst years in recent history and we're still a national brand, that means they're ok with the season? That makes zero sense and is a far stretch.

Did the season end up being bad? Yes, nobody is denying that. Were there some good parts to it? Yes, nobody should deny that. Does understanding the power of national media brings most attention mean people are happy with the season? No.

Who cares. Shawn Clark has run this program into the ground. If you thought the hes been horrible so far....just wait until next year. Sick to my stomach over losing all that was built.

Some have no clue --- they just want to roll in the shit they spout. I said nothing about liking the record or anything near that - I am responding to those who think the APP brand is nose diving on the national level, this shows it isn't. My main point was that of all the millions who watched it today and/or watched GameDay in Boone I am saying a HUGE majority have no clue we had a mediocre year. They know we aren't in the NY6 but that has never happened. I have several friends over the country who asked me which "so-so bowl game" are we going to this year - Some are guys I have brought to Boone for games and they have become APP fans but don't see every game like we get to (ESPN+)
A couple of you guys need to get a grip

I will add that if we have another 2 mediocre seasons then I might join you in the concern for the program

The answer is somewhere in the middle.
But you can't deny the changes in college football has caused App to be an average, at best, Sunbelt team..... just look at our record against winning teams for past 2 years.

2023 will be very telling year.

Are we physically strong enough?
Are we healthy?
Do we have talent to win?
Do we have the coaching to win?
Do we have to wait for player development, again?

The fact is the other Sunbelt conference teams know we are average.

I am hopeful SC will do what is necessary to get back to winning against winning teams.

Clark is indefensible at this point. Maybe he can turn things around. But he has done absolutely nothing that indicates he can compete in a much better Sunbelt. Okay, now it's your turn to somehow bame Drink for this.

Michigan State, Wisconsin, Va Tech, Auburn, Texas A&M, Oklahoma all generally pretty good or traditionally great but down this year. I expect most if not all of them to get back to good or great. I expect the same for App. We had those 10 win seasons and the expectations for several folks here was to keep that up.

There really is no rebuild anymore. Just go get the players you need to reload. We really didn't reload this year and paid the price.

It was a bad season , two cupcakes away from "a losing record" . Hopefully we won't see another like it for a long time.

There are issues, sure. Nobody can deny that. But, Clark did not run the program into the ground. If anything, Clark is building it back up. To the casual fan, that's not what it looks like.

But, Clark told Gillin upon being hired 2021 and 2022 would be rebuild years based on the roster. Add in the Covid years and super seniors, that helped bridge the gap some, but it also made the roster even more unbalanced. I expect 2023 to be better than 2022, but I don't expect a 2019 season until 2024.

He's only indefensible for those that have no idea what they're talking about.... There's a reason he's not on the hot seat by anybody but the casual fan base. Everybody with any kind of knowledge of what's going on knew this past season was likely to happen.

So, you are saying App has not played well for atleast 1 year.

And 2 years might cause many to go ballistic.

And we are all praying for things to change, as in beating teams with winning records !!
