Feels like the talking heads song..."same as it ever was, same as it ever was" How difficult is it to have a decent special teasm. Most other teams seem to be able to do it and its not like we dont have good athletes. Its just frustrating to watch the same thing year after year.

I agree, we have to lead the world in giving up KO tds. Sadly a JM team trademark.

Just when we pull to within one, and Special Teams give up 6, that took the life out of the entire team.

This game was very winnable. Stupid to kick a ball to a great returner, just like we did at JMU a few years ago, too many penalties, their defense is probably the best we face this year. Also had to play the home cooking.

Still like were we are compared to last year.

Agreed, from what I've heard their first TD was some home cooking, many say JJ was down when the ball came out.

Wasn't he the only returner back there?

I was watching and kept saying to the tv - punt the ball out of bounds. We never did it. There's no reason we shouldn't have just kicked the ball out the back of the endzone every time we kicked to them, unless our kicker doesn't have a big enough boot.

I think that have been a designed short kick, which I totally disagree with

I was really hoping this would improve, especially since it was said during the camp reports that several times during the two-a-days that one whole session was dedicated to special teams. What we saw during the scrimmages followed through to today. It goes without saying that we've got much work to do. I've said it many times, just because you have great athletes on ST doesn't mean your teams are going to be great. Some of the best ST players are just average position players. It takes discipline, heart, and trust to be good on ST.

WV...I see what you are saying, but we have a blatant history of suspect special teams, and here's to them getting addressed like the committee did. It's hard put lipstick on a pig. :)

Classic case of special teams play preventing a win.

1. Offense 2. Defense 3. Special Teams.... or however one wnats to rank them.

Defense play well enough to win yesterday. Offense, especially the lines play gets kudos for yardage, special teams gets the purple pig award for the week. There's work to do.
