App St football = POOP

After years of dynasty like play, we are officially poop. How does that make you feel? We have more talent for offensive skill position players, but our defense is an absolute embarrassment. Offensive skill positions are the best EVER minus QB that is, Chase is a chunky, slow QB. If Burger was starting, we may have only lost one so far. How does that make you feel, App Nation? As others have said since our embarrassing bowl loss, our defense, especially the secondary, has been absolutely EXPOSED. 'Til we recruit some dogs for DBs and safeties, we will never be more than mediocre at best. We'll be lucky to see a bowl game this year. To the defensive secondary and coaches/players and QB coaches/players, I hope you're proud of yourself for drinking the koolaid and getting big-heads.

Chase is the best qb we have had since AE and has the best arm talent of any qb I have seen in the black and gold.

I agree that we are in a state of decline, but I don’t think the blame goes on Chase. He’s shown more heart this season than the rest of the team combined.

I guess you're content and ok with mediocrity Beau! To each his own. I thought our football team was known for being dogs, guess we're just wanna-bes that are content with being "okay" at best. Just a bunch of pups.....

We’re not good, but chase is the only reason we’re even competitive lately.

How about the fumble at the 5 yesterday and the INT returned to the 2 yd line? Lost by 7 and there's 2 field goals or better yet TDs erased because our QB can't make better decisions. But yeah, sure, he's the reason we're competitive. How about the reason we're NOT competitive?

Clearly you are a keen observer of talent and football in general.

We're an average program this season at best despite possessing a lot of talent. I don't feel like coaching is at the level to fully leverage our talent. I like Clark but you have to look at him coming on board and our success since then and there's a pretty strong correlation.

Lamb? Thomas? These guys won conference championships and were better all around.

Lamb couldn’t throw the ball 20 yards and Thomas couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn door.

Oh and they benefited from MUCH better coaching

Other teams are good too. That has something to do with it.

Those guys relied on our run game to win against inferior opponents. Bet neither averaged 200 yards passing. We just used to run 40 times a game and win by 30. it was easy then to run and let the defense stop everyone. When forced to throw, those guys didn’t win either, if we got down 14 it was game over.

But, we won. Winning fixes everything.

Chase did a horrible job in pass coverage and tackling last night while on defense- wait he doesn't play defense.

He has the best arm talent we have ever had all things considered. Even the best QB's throw a bad ball or mishandle a snap. We are not even close to being in the game without his throws, couple of scramble runs and extending plays. To say we win or are closer without the PIC and fumble is insane.

The kid for coastal who torched us on the run and long passes was not contained. He was interfered with on the pass down the left side (our defender grabbed his jersey) or that's a score. He dropped the wide open deep ball or that's a score probably. Our backer barely grabbed at his heel on the run or that's probably a score or at least 20 more yards. Granted if Chase was a little faster it might open a few more options but he still can get the tough 10 when needed. To clamor for the backup QB when it's a defensive issue is ridiculous.

Bruh what.....if you blame that loss on Chase you're delusional. 1) It's a team sport. 2) If you want to call out anyone specifically there are a LOT better options for that and don't do that anyway. 3) As others have mentioned Chase doesn't play defense and without some drops they would have won by 3 scores. 4) Chase runs the plays that are called and I'm guessing he doesn't choose to run it up the middle every other play. It also doesn't seem like the coaches want him to audible out of anything as I very very rarely see him do that.
