Stroman should get 10+ targets a game (especially in red zone). He is 6-4 and is usually covered by much shorter DB'S. Noticed mismatch on play before his TD and commented to my friend. Evidently coach's in the box noticed too as went to him on next play for TD.

He played his best.... he fought hard

Lawson is a zone cover corner. He's not a man to man corner and he's been forced to play man a lot this year due to lack of pass rush.
He's an athletic freak, but at this level, it takes an athletic freak with great fundamentals. He reads plays well for zone, but that's his downfall with man. He keeps his eyes in the backfield for too long and bites too much. Good news is that's coachable.

Appreciate these insights. As fans we can sometimes be simplistic in our critiques

Reminds me of TJ Courman.

Agreed with the after the catch moves, he’s probably a better route runner already though.

The guys playing defense this year are getting experience that will pay dividends down the road. We need to root for these guys the way we rooted for the guys that played before them.

Exactly, he's a read and react guy. He csn produce big plays that way, but we just don't have the defensive makeup for him to thrive (currently). Man coverage takes tremendous detail, hip work, and timing. Outside of the glaring issues upfront in the trenches, this defense has some strong talent that could click anytime this year. Jones just needs to put them in position to succeed by disguising our weaknesses in the 3_4 man rushes.

Stroman is still learning the nuances of the college game. He needs to get his alignments and blocking consistent. From a pure talent standpoint, Clark has said he has potential to be the best player ever to wear black and gold. Not best receiver -- best player!
Once he realizes the importance of lining up in the right spot (even an inch or two off causes timing issues), how to hold blocks longer, and more of the route tree, I fully expect to see him dominate the conference.
And, from everything I'm hearing about him, his work ethic will bring him to that level quicker than most.

You guys hit the nail on the head. These guys giving their all are good football players. But they are individuals with individual strengths and weaknesses. They’ll figure it out and find consistency in results to match the existing effort.
