They just found a mismatch and went after it, a lot.
Lawson is a zone cover corner. He's not a man to man corner and he's been forced to play man a lot this year due to lack of pass rush.

He's an athletic freak, but at this level, it takes an athletic freak with great fundamentals. He reads plays well for zone, but that's his downfall with man. He keeps his eyes in the backfield for too long and bites too much. Good news is that's coachable.
Exactly, he's a read and react guy. He csn produce big plays that way, but we just don't have the defensive makeup for him to thrive (currently). Man coverage takes tremendous detail, hip work, and timing. Outside of the glaring issues upfront in the trenches, this defense has some strong talent that could click anytime this year. Stroman is still learning the nuances of the college game. He needs to get his alignments and blocking consistent. From a pure talent standpoint, Clark has said he has potential to be the best player ever to wear black and gold. You guys hit the nail on the head. These guys giving their all are good football players. But they are individuals with individual strengths and weaknesses.
