Offensive Coordinator

I know it was a tough loss today but I like to look for silver linings. I really like our new Offensive Coordinator! I loved the play calling, the use of the tight ends, throws to running backs, using Nate the right way and not running him between the tackles, good mix of running and passing, etc. I could go on but everyone gets the idea. I think we threw more to our tight ends today than we did all season and it was really good to see. I think our offense is going to put up big numbers all year long. And it looks like we are going to have to because the defense looks iffy.

except for the first and 20 run play between the tackles with Nate, why just why?

How about the 3rd and 14 (?) design QB run?

Other than that, pretty good.

I agree t4pizza. It will be interesting to see how the year develops...does he have tendencies and remain status quo and teams adapt. He kept the Heels guessing..Chase was 25-38 over 350 yards and 6 TDs while RBs had over 250 yards.

Sure, we can cherry pick plays here and there but unlike past years the play calling wasn't as predictable and had lots of fun wrinkles. Looking forward to this year.

Those quick hurry up plays were great. We threw to tight ends and took shots. If anyone is upset about 3 or 4 conservative plays I don't know what to say. Play calling was fantastic.

I liked the play calling in the 1st and 4th quarter. Usually 61 points is enough to win a game. I wonder if anyone has ever scored 61 or more points and lost.

Excluding overtimes, it looks like San Jose State beat Rice 70-63 in 2004, West Virginia beat Baylor 70-63 in 2012, Toledo beat Wester Michigan 66-63 in 2011, and UCLA beat Washington State 67-63 in 2019.

So we dodged a bullet today.

On a positive note after feeling very dejected ......I will say with only a one game assessment I loved Barbays schemes and play calling across the board......I give him an A + grade today . Based on one game I hope we keep him around a long time

A breath of fresh air to adapt to teams loading up to stop our stretch run plays and us making adjustments to the for the strengths of our personnel. Wonderful to not use our repetitive stale pass routes along with including reemergence of a pass catching tight end. Any semblance of a defense today and making three or four series stops instead of about two the game wouldn't have been so exciting and we'd be celebrating a win. I agree, homerun hire in Barbay.

Loved the offensive play calling. Reminded me of the Armanti days when no matter how far we were backed up I knew we’d score points. Does everyone realize Brice was 25/26 completions passing? Other than that answer is easy for me…need hogs on the DLine to get pressure.

I liked what I saw

A+ rating

Other than a few situational plays calls he did great so I give him a pass on those few.

I love the variety and he is not afraid to let players make plays.

And that one incompletion was an INT, so a completion to the other team. Wild

Brice was 25 of 38 for 361 yards. Still pretty exceptional.

Damn ESPN has him 25/26 I figured it was pretty wrong.

What the hell happened in the 2nd and 3rd qtrs when we were non existent? That poor play calling vanilla and trying to sit on a 21-7 lead. If we take 1st and 4th qtrs we could have scored 90

Barbay is going to be really good. UNC made adjustments and a blowout was never going to happen because of their talent. We were never going to beat them by 30. For a first game, he was very good and should only get better.

Look at how often we used the tight end or that we threw to the backs out of the backfield and those alone are improvements on previous coordinators. We were using some formations I had been wanting to see for a while. I love that we got the tight ends more involved and hope to see it continue.
