247 Sports Bold Predictions
We need to take the Beach Chickens out behind the woodshed. Don’t understand why the media fell in love with these guys; predicting 12-0.

Another ill informed "journalist" with some hot takes and nothing to really back it up.

Re: 247 Sports Bold Predictions
I had to laugh at the "they won both those games by double digits." He clearly didn't watch that game because we outplayed them for 95% of the game and the only reason it was double digits was a desperation INT.

Re: 247 Sports Bold Predictions
This isn't very bold, other than the game versus App they don't have a game in which they won't be favored by less than a TD.
OOC is Citadel, Kansas, Buffalo, UMass and they avoid ULL in conference. Not only are the opponents lack luster, but the timing of the games works in their favor.
OOC starts slow with Citadel
Conference starts slow with ULM and a Arkansas St fan that you'll want to catch earlier than late (one down side is on 5 days rest)
A bye before the App game
If I were asked to choose three G5 teams to go 12-0, they'd be on that list.

Re: 247 Sports Bold Predictions
If I am outside and not following/analyzing our conference in detail. Agree. Based upon that schedule, I would pick them to go 12-0 as they only see final score of game with us. Being there live...in the first half, Peoples ran all over them. If we had more of him in second, maybe it is a different story. On the other side for us....I thought ULL could have beaten us much worse than scoreboard if not for their punting woes.
Similar to us, Coastal Carolina Community College (that is an insult to the esteemed actual community college in Jacksonville NC) have many coming back like us. I assume the win last year gave them confidence (or got them over the hump), etc. of finally beating us.
They are going to be a tough game IMO.

I would not take that bet. I think Coastal handles them, again. I hope for the conference and for our own selfish interest, they win it.

Re: 247 Sports Bold Predictions
There are obviously some dog P5 teams every season and many are dogs every year. Do we want any home and home with crap teams like Kansas? Even SC beat Georgia a couple of years ago and UNC still wasn’t horrible. I’m sure we could schedule out a few years to play Vandy, Kansas, Rutgers, etc but do we want that?

Re: 247 Sports Bold Predictions
Yes, I would take it every year if we have another P5 on the schedule during those years. It's the mental part of recruiting as well as advertisement on networks such as ESPN.. Let's say 5 years from now we played the teams above each year (not same team each year) and we beat them each year... sprinkle am occasional P5 win against another P5 team such as UNC, USC, inert any other school...ESPN as reporting on Sportscenter does not comment on who we beat.. the intro to the highlights is that App St. once again on a regular basis beats another P5 team... whatever psychological advantage I can get in recruiting, I will take it. ..with that said, I do not want the teams above to be the only P5 team on the schedule that year. In addition, I do wish we we would schedule BYU, Boise St, Cincy, ... whatever decent to great other G5 teams we can as well. Although a tough schedule, I would take Cincy, Vandy, a P5 top 25 team and a 4th like Marshall all in one year...To be the best, play the best (relatively)...it is a difficult schedule, however, long term, recruits know we will play a quality schedule. ...and, just maybe, some better scheduling slots on ESPN family of networks...just my two centsbigdaddyg wrote: ↑Wed Aug 25, 2021 6:41 pmThere are obviously some dog P5 teams every season and many are dogs every year.
