Announcers
Could there be any worse announcers from ESPN? Two players down and they keep on rambling. Geez.

Re: Announcers
The game is a joke. The opponent is a joke. The field is teal. The kickoff is at 2:30 on a Monday. No one can pronounce our damn name right including refs and the Myrtle Beach Business lady.
I’m not sure why we’d expect the announcers to be any good.
This is free App State football on ESPN and that’s about it.

Re: Announcers
Good points except about the incorrect pronouncing. Hell, our own chancellor pronounces it wrong.

Everyone not from the area gets one freebie. She had hers and can be shown grace one time.

One time that we know of. She should know how to pronounce her employer's name correctly.

She should but decades of speaking a certain way is not going to be gone immediately. I have been living in the Triad for nearly 3 decades and when I pronounce yellow it is obvious I was not born and raised in this area but somewhere about 90 miles west of here.

Re: Announcers
Speaking of Triad pronounciation, what's up with VIE-eena? I always laughed about that when I lived in Lewisville.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 7:18 amShe should but decades of speaking a certain way is not going to be gone immediately. Re: Announcers
Are you referring to a canned meat with sausage in the name or the capital of Austria or am I missing something else entirely?BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 9:35 amSpeaking of Triad pronounciation, what's up with VIE-eena? Re: Announcers
Thought the announcers did a good job when i saw the replay today. We had trouble hearing the ref at the stadium. Also, in Buncombe County we say “VI—E-NE.

Re: Announcers
There's an area of Forsyth county, on the western side of Winston, that is referred to as Vienna (there's also Lewisville-Vienna Rd). Locals pronounce it Vie-eena, instead of the more common pronunciation (like the Austria version). It always made my wife and I laugh.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 9:49 amAre you referring to a canned meat with sausage in the name or the capital of Austria or am I missing something else entirely?BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 9:35 amSpeaking of Triad pronounciation, what's up with VIE-eena? Re: Announcers
Good, valid points, but you aren't chancellor of our university and making big bucks for being so. Someone should have cautioned her before she signed the contract. At least, to my knowledge, she hasn't called us Appy State.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 22, 2020 7:18 amShe should but decades of speaking a certain way is not going to be gone immediately. Re: Announcers
You should give it a rest on pronunciation. She did it initially but has corrected it. Is that all you got to complain about?NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:52 pmGood, valid points, but you aren't chancellor of our university and making big bucks for being so. Re: Announcers
At my Freshman Convocation in 2006, then Chancellor Peacock openly admitted that he mispronounced the name of our school quite a bit until someone politely corrected him. Does that make him a terrible person as well?NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:52 pmGood, valid points, but you aren't chancellor of our university and making big bucks for being so.
