1000 yd. Rusher

Unread post by Appstate88 » Sat Nov 28, 2020 8:49 pm

Cam Peoples will need 446 yards of rushing in remaining games to keep the streak alive.

Can he do it with 3 games to play.

Can he? Most certainly. Will he? It remains to be seen, and I hope it does, but I wouldn’t be shocked if it doesn’t.

According to the stats on Appstatesports.com, he has 639 net yards. That's only 361 yards left. Tough games left, so it's not going to be easy, but it's do-able. It helps that he keeps breaking those long TD runs!

I think if he didn't fumble against Troy he would have had a few more carries and helped his chances. If we play a bowl game he will need about 120 in the three remaining games. That is certainly very doable for him if we feed him the ball, but it won't work with only 10 reps a game. This is a streak that dates back to Jerry Moore and spans every coach since, it would be sad to see it broken especially considering the talented backs we have.

GS's run defense isn't going to allow him to get to 100 yards, I don't see the streak staying alive.

If our game plan is to run into the heart of the GS defense it will be a long day.

In Sun Belt games, Ga Southern is only allowing 79 yards per game on the ground. That's not to say, he can't do it, but the odds would suggest otherwise.

We did average around 150 yds on the ground in our last two outings v. the Eagles.
