My wife and I are headed out west next week. We'll fly to SLC, rent a 4wd RV and do a clockwise circle from SLC (1200) to the the Grand Canyon (0600). When I planned this trip, we were to play ULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL on a Wednesday and I wondered if there were any brethren out yonder interested in watching together. Now that I'm not looking for a watch party, I'd love to hear any recommendations on random stuff we should see/eat/drink/fish for/camp/gaze upon while we're out there.

Not out west Bud but that sounds amazing!.

If you are going to the south side of the Canyon, take a side trip down to Flagstaff, AZ about 1 hr drive. There is a hotel there called Little America ( Its a quality throwback to the 1970's with great service and rooms). I have stayed there twice. They have a fine gift shop that will save you time from stopping by all the "Indian Blanket" tourist stops along the way. The hotel restaurant has good food served on fine linen covered tables. Flagstaff is off I 40 but old Route 66 runs down town with some of the old original hotels still operating. I have stayed at two of them (don't remember the names). It makes you feel like you are on the set of the old TV series "Route 66". It's a college town, Northern Arizona State I believe, and they are known as the Lumberjacks. The mascot reminds me of your Yosef. Be careful driving in the area, lot of moose on the roads. BTW when you are at the Canyon try to take a day trip into the canyon or a helicopter ride, or you can just hang around the canyon and watch tourists accidentally fall to their deaths like they do each year.

Just to the south of the Canyon and Flagstaff is Sedona. It is in the red rock valley along 89A and 179 (I think). It is a beautiful drive off the interstate with great scenery. Chapel of the Holy Cross is a neat visit. We have eaten at a little Southwestern place called Javelina (I think) that has great views of the valley from their outdoor section. There are great studios and restaurants if that isn’t your thing.

First time we went was on a lark while driving from Phoenix to Flagstaff. Now we never miss the opportunity to get off the Interstate and enjoy a more leisurely ride.

If you’re coming back up to SLC, I highly recommend swinging by Zion or even taking a trip to park city and surrounding areas.

If you can see any of the national parks in Utah you will not be disappointed. I proposed to mrs Seattleapp at arches national park and the next day saw canyon lands. Highly recommend both. Brian head Utah is pretty amazing too 11,000 feet

While in slc, look up bridal veil falls. Nice bit of water coming off the mountain.

If you can fit it in, drive highway 12 through the Escalante area. The scenery there is incredible.

I second Sedona. I would make that stop on your trip.

Second Sedona and Flagstaff. Also second visiting some of the parks or monuments in Utah (Zion, canyonlands, arches, grand staircase etc)
Couple more favs from when I lived in Phoenix:
Mogollon Rim - around the Payson area this rugged geographic feature has many activities in the area (fossil creek waterfalls, tonto bridge state park, etc)
Humphreys Peak outside of flagstaff - great 13’ner to hike before the snow starts. Also really good camping spots in the national forest under the Aspens!! Should be the perfect time for you to be in the area as the leaves change. Went around this time 3 years ago and it was amazing.
Kaibab national forest - again great camping spots just outside the Grand Canyon park entrance on the south side. (See a theme here?)
Moab/La Sal mountains - more great hiking and camping in this area of eastern Utah up against the Colorado state line. Also close to arches and canyonlands national parks. And of course Moab is a huge outdoors town.

In the Flagstaff area you will find the Lowell Observatory which has an interesting history. This facility is credited for discovering Pluto. Worth a visit.

Never been out that way, but that trip sounds purely amazing! My roommate from App lives in SLC and always talks about the amazing views, I can only imagine how nice it is in some of the other states.

Who knows, if you spend an extended period of time in Utah/SLC area, you may end up with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th wife..LOL

Y’all know I’m dying here!!!!. I guess we didn’t get further COVID from the Campbell team which I worried about Prayers for speedy and healthy recovery for our coaches, players and families.

God knows I want App football for my own piece of mind,but why are we playing with the president on down sick.Being in Boone with my family at homecoming last year was a dream,but it seems to be almost a nightmare this year.What are we doing?
