I know we aren’t supposed to ever bad mouth a kid but Hunter shoulda been shown the end of bench. Was at the game and his culmination of penalties was unacceptable

He had a tough game, it happens. He had roided out 25 year old playing dirty across from him the entire game.

True. Tough game for the kid, but those UAB kids looked like their diets consisted of small children.

They did and I think they are a solid team but nowhere near us. We played awful and if that team was a top 30 team they would have beaten us. However, they were #2 in CUSA and we should slot up with this win.

Anyone see that Boise State score? Remember when I said that really only App and Memphis should be ranked from the G5 level and I am not sure I would put either in the top 20. Washington was 7-5 and nobody argued for them and look what they did to Boise? I don't think they would do that to us but it goes to show that these polls give the G5 level way too much credit.

We will at least finish #19 with a shot at 17 or 18.

I thought he played great! I like the nasty attitude! Holding AND personal fouls are subjective. He shut “tat” man up!!!

That's a bit harsh but that's pretty normal for youI guess.. The first personal foul was bad but the rest of his penalties are part of the game and happen more often than they are called. Glad he's coming back next year.

Who among us hasn’t had a bad day. I hope you feel better now that you’ve done something you said you shouldn’t do. 😉 What difference does it make if you were at the game. None of us who watched from home were happy with any of the unsportsmanlike penalties. However, these men were playing for their “Guy” and I believe they were a little too juiced in the moment. Add in some chippy play from the other team and you get penalized. Things will normalize in the off-season and I’m sure HC Clark will instill his brand of discipline. If he doesn’t I’m sure you will be the first to remind me. 👍

The “hold” that negated the 25 yard gain on 3rd and 23 was a bogus call. I thought the flag came out a little early so I went back... it was a cut block, he was on the ground and the flag came out damn near before he came off the line.

There were a few questionable calls at the end of that drive though. Makes me wonder if they were makeup calls for missing the obvious face mask on Fehr on their previous 4th down,

I think we forget sometimes that the other teams have good coaches and game plan against us. On defense, they presented some unique challenges with a 6’7” DE, a fireplug nose guard and Marino who was ejected from the previous game.
Their goal was to turn the game into a brawl, make it as chippy as possible and see if we could handle it.
Hunter racked up penalties, but so did Marino.
Simply put, Hunter may have been the best man for the challenge, despite the yellow flags.

The game was pretty chippy in general. I was disappointed in a few of the penalties that were clearly unsportsmanlike, but some of those calls were pretty border line and in many games wouldn't have been called. App didn't play our best but give credit to UAB. They punched us in the mouth in the first quarter, but I love the fact that I never really questioned we would come back. This team doesn't quit, and they made adjustments and shut down that Blazer offense and took control. UAB had their QB back and was much more dangerous than they were in their CUSA championship game.

Regarding Boise, I didn't watch that game but I don't think it's accurate to assess their worthiness on a single game. Bad games happen. This is the risk that G5 teams live with though. A great season can be overshadowed by a single bad game at the end.

Haha. Yeah it was pretty normal for everyone sitting next around me too as they shared my sentiments. He had several drive killing bone headed plays. We won anyway but no those aren’t part of the game. It’s good he’s coming back but it’s ok to call it like it is sometimes

That might the first game all year I’ve even heard his number called other than maybe a false start here or there. The official should have kept the flag in his pocket on the first head tap. Both guys were going at it pretty good. Steroid guy was obviously trying to instigate stuff. Again, a thread calling out one young man is kind of pointless. Hunter has played his tail off all year and I’m proud of him and all of the guys. We won!

Holding and hands to the face on the interior line are very common and not always called. I would just like to see you post something positive every once in awhile. Kid had some bad plays but also played well otherwise. I may be wrong, but lately you seem to be drive-by posting negative thoughts. Is the Seattle weather getting to you?

Like everyone said, the refs were calling it very close and more on us than UaB. UAB also was trying to start as much trouble after each ply as they could. Yea he had a bad game, but still held up most of the game with mounting frustration and we won.

Bad game? No. 3 bad plays yes. Did everyone notice #1 was not in on the last 4 plays when we were kneeling.? Tells me all I need to know about Ivan Koloff

51 played a good game.... sometimes a player has to fight, and he did ....the guy antagonizing him was on the bench much of the second half....he was there to instigate a fight.... Flyers of the 1970's Broad Street bullies.... strategy Didn't work....Talent won , App State won

Yep - you got it - as mentioned previously the refs could call holding on just about every play - The late hit was not a good/smart play but when a guy starts for 14 straight games there is a reason and to say he should be on the bench is well ....... :?

Boise had been mediocre all year, the UW game just exposed them.
