It’s been awesome seeing the block A in the graphic on ESPN when they scroll through “playoff” teams.

This week's CFP for G5:

18. Memphis
19. Cincinnati
20. Boise State
24. Appalachian State
25. SMU

Based solely on rank, the committee narrowed the gap between App and top by two. Only six spots separate.

I feel like Cincy, Boise, and SMU are overrated and vulnerable for sure...not sure about Memphis...they seem more likely to win out...BUT I love being in the conversation. Amazing really..

I have a feeling we end up second in this race. Regardless, I’m still proud of this team and program, and am holding out hope that the chips fall in a way that allows us to make it to Dallas on January 1.

Not bad 5 of 25 are G5.

These 3 and 4 loss teams are a joke and would likely be spanked by the G5’s that are ranked.

I want to be in Dallas on December 28th.😀

2 four loss teams ahead of us is a f****** joke. We would demolish both of them.

We jumped SMU who is above us in the other polls. I consider that a success. We still need a few more years of success to get greater nation wide recognition. If memphis or smu or cincy had beat UNC and USC they would be ranked higher than we currently are. I'm just enjoying the exposure we are getting just by being in all these discussions on national tv.

The CFP heavily favors P5 teams. It just is what it is. I was hoping to see us at 22, but any movement up is good.

These shitty 3 and 4 loss teams will keep losing.

Auburn still has Alabama.
Iowa State still has OU.
USC will probably lose to UCLA because they are both terrible.

If we win out, I still think we are in the teens going into our bowl game.

Do you honestly believe there are five teams not ranked in this poll that are better than, say, Auburn? If so, who?

I am frustrated that USC and Iowa St. jumped us with four losses, but let’s be realistic about saying we’d “spank” or “demolish” either of them. We might beat them, but either are better than anyone we’ve played this year.

I know what’s done is done but I can’t look at these rankings without thinking about where we could be if we hadn’t lost to the stink. Yeah, I like to torture myself.

Agreed. I wouldn't have ranked Iowa State myself but it's also sort of irrelevant as Iowa State isn't standing in our way for a Cotton Bowl bid.

The P5 wins have been great but let's not get too cocky. Neither team is currently bowl eligible and South Carolina definitely won't be. And both wins came down to the last possession. Taking that and saying we are going to easily spank P5 teams that could finish with eight wins is silly.

Yeah, loving this season and beating both Carolinas, but spanking a P5 currently ranked, let's not get too crazy.

UNC is as good as both USC and Iowa St, so we would be competitive and could win those games...but spanked...not sure about that one.
