We are a team not a ranking. THIS is why some older veteran fans wanted everyone to pump the brakes on the endless where are we gonna be ranked conversation. There are games to be played not just bloviating endlessly about rankings

Fan talk about rankings has nothing to do with the football game being played.

No one is a bigger fan than me. I hope we win so badly but this is what happens and maybe I’m just guilty of feeling too disappointed with the potential outcome of this game I hate seeing us lose like this on national tv.....again after we’ve been ranked. I feel like we fight the you shouldn’t be ranked all the time and when we get ranked we drop the ball and it really sucks

Yeah I agree. But us talking about it online has nothing to do with the team performance. Which has been repeated a million times on here.

If being ranked and talking about it equated to losing than Alabama and Clemson must suck. Because their fans obsess over being ranked number 1.

Such is the world of football. Look what happened with Oklahoma last weekend. We'll move on, kick ass and keep on this awesome culture of winning.

Some people are afraid to strive for success so they don't risk being disappointed. I think that's a loser mentality.

Last week’s game and next week’s game aren’t televised if we aren’t ranked. Rankings may not matter to the games being played, but they matter. More recruits will care that we were on national TV 4 times and in the top 25, than if we lost to Southern. As someone else said, thinking it would be better to NOT be ranked is a loser mentality.

Nope, I’ll always be happy we’re ranked and I understand the value we get from it. Not my fault you’re too short sighted to see it.

It ain't over til the fat lady sings. 5 minutes left. 24-21, I still have hope we can do this. I would always love to be ranked and would talk about be ranked constantly. The pros far out-way the non existent cons.

It does not help if we constantly choke. We won't be ranked again this year. That is why many of us want to see we deserve it before we are ranked. We should not have been ranked and now people look at us as the time who gets ranked from beating nobody and then we play someone halfway decent and we lose.

We all want to be good enough to be ranked. Bottom line is we are a good team but a ranked team does not lose a game like this against a G5 who has 3 losses.

We can't lose a SBC game and just drop a few spots. We will fall like a rock. I bet we have less than 20 points and that will only be because those who had us 14-17 range will have us 24-25 now. We must win out to have a shot at getting back in.

We have to get a lot better. A lot of things can be pointed to here. Bad play calling, refs screwed us on a few calls, our OL was very bad in the first half, and we dropped too many passes.

I understand you’re disappointed. We all are.

We didn’t lose because we were ranked. Our first 15 losses as an FBS team occurred when we weren’t ranked. The last two, we have been. Hopefully the next time we lose, it will also be as a ranked team.

BTW, I’m not some young millennial, nor are a lot of fans who are actually proud of our teams accomplishments. This thread is a place for two people on this board to gloat and revel in the fact that we lost a game. The fact that you’re seemingly happy about that is sickening.

GSU is a good team but a ranked team does not lose a game like that unless it is to a conference or P5 foe. Of course we did not lose because we were ranked but clearly our coaching, OL play, and dropping passes kept us from playing like one tonight.

I can't help but join in on what it would take to get to a NY6 and move up but now people can forget it because we won't be ranked again this year and we aren't going to a NY6. We now need help to go back to New Orleans. We need GSU to lose soon.

GS has beaten a ranked team two years in a row, something they have never given us the opportunity to since they have never been ranked.
