We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. Ted Roof
I am officially back where I was earlier before the season started. I thought Roof could bring a steady hand to have us ready for bigger games and he has proved it. Our two biggest games, our defense balled out. I still know a lot of stuff behind the scenes that made me question, but on Gameday, he has gotten the job done. I can't say enough about Akeem either. This dude is a true leader on the field in the way he plays. I've been touting him since last year on this board, and he continues to impress.
I told my buddy if we hold them down, I'll go get Roof's autograph. I'm officially going to get it next time in Boone.
5-0.....i don't understand the approach by Drink, but a 10 min drive and he went to our best player in the clutch and forced the defender to mangle him. Game over. Probably won't impress the voters, but we keep stacking Ws. See you next time Cajuns.

Re: Ted Roof
The voters would be impressed if they looked at LaLas offensive stats and how we thoroughly dominated their rushing attack. Also, that last drive was masterful and ballsy.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:16 pmI am officially back where I was earlier before the season started. Defense saved our hides tonight. The Cajuns came for a fight and yeah, maybe ya'll should cool it on Roof. We're 5-0, I don't know what more you want aside from 30+ point win margins.

Re: Ted Roof
I really questioned not kicking a FG which would force them to score a TD but Drink gets the big bucks and it worked. Crazy play calling at times but the defense kicked butt. Nice win. Where them Trolls now?

Re: Ted Roof
Yes, Roof stepped up for sure. Our defense should be this good every week. Now he has shown he is capable so we can't give up 40 to ULM next week.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:16 pmI am officially back where I was earlier before the season started. Gaither is a monster. My NFL buddy told me that Gaither is definitely going to the Senior Bowl and should be a top 100 draft pick. I believe it after seeing him tonight.
Drink was masterful tonight with his drain the clock mentality. I actually think our offense helped the defense before anyone says our offense needed to get bailed out. We controlled the clock and still dominated ULL on offense. I know we only scored 17 but you can't score 35 when you have 8-10 minute drives. Drink did have me concerned when we went for it but that was a brilliant run by ZT. I don't know if Drink called the QB keeper or Thomas made that decision but it was a great one.

Re: Ted Roof
Dominating defensive performances should get as much attention as big scoring offensive ones. I know they don’t, but this was a great performance.
To me, it’s no different than winning 48-35.

Voters won't hop us over teams ahead of us who win but if 2-3 teams ahead of us lose then we looked good enough to slot up.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:27 pmTrue... They may look past the box score since we were on national tv
ULL is a solid team. They aren't as close to us in talent as they think they are but this is a solid win and huge for us in giving home field advantage for the SBC title game.

Regarding your comment (at the time I agreed) and not kicking, Coach said this in his post-game interview when questioned: "We don't fear failure, we attack success!"
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Ted Roof
You are right, camera work was shotty be ESPN, but, there were ton of opportunities to move the ball through the air and Drink chose against it. I was losing my mind. I’m not sure of the strategy, even though I trusted us to win the game, because it shouldn’t have been close. Napier stacked the box and we still ran the ball. Napier doubled Henni and the TE, Malik, and Corey were all in position to make plays, and we forced it to Henni. I’m not sure if that was play design or poor decision making by Zac. Point is, we toyed with UL all night. When UL realized how much better we were in the first quarter, we should’ve squashed them. They were shell shocked, you could see it in their QBs eyes. It was a choice not to pound them with our offensive weapons. WeirdAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:40 pmYes, Roof stepped up for sure. Our defense should be this good every week. Re: Ted Roof
ULLs kicking game is awful. They weren’t going to kick a field goal. Going for it was the right call.

Keep in mind folks, the defense you all saw tonight was closer to our base from last year.....

Re: Ted Roof
No one wanted to fire him. It was exaggerated responses from fanatics. There was massive concerns, and frankly, they are still there. Most people agreed that it was time for Roof and the players to meet in the middle and we should start seeing stronger performances. This was a nice first step. He got back to what worked last year and the players delivered.

I'm with you. And if our defense will be called like this every week we should beat 3-4 remaining opponents by 25-30 for sure.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:49 pmWell to be honest sign me up for the 30+ point win marginshotrod2001 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:28 pmDefense saved our hides tonight. I don't like to trash talk teams because I know how Louisiana fans now look. You want to respect other teams but it amazes me at the lack of respect we get. Other teams should take note though because our defense not playing well and certainly not consistent was our only concern. If the defense has it together then we can definitely achieve our goals.
I'm so proud of this team. Drink should take a day or two off and enjoy this win and that new baby.
We need to be ready for ULM. They have a good running back but I think if we can hold down ULL backs under 100 yards that we can hold theirs in check.

Re: Ted Roof
ESPN should be embarrassed at their coverage of our game. They used the wrong logo for Louisiana at half time, got names wrong, and clear they cared more about Saturday than actually presenting the game well. I mean we play on a game like this for the publicity and at halftime and prior to the game the talk should have been about App and Louisiana but it was all about LSU and Florida. What a joke.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 10:55 pmYou are right, camera work was shotty be ESPN, but, there were ton of opportunities to move the ball through the air and Drink chose against it. We were more than 2 scores better than them. We got their absolute best on the road and they still could not get the W. They are a solid team but I truly expected this to be a little closer in terms of talent. They certainly have some good players but Napier still does not have the horses that Drink has. We are the fastest team in the SBC and it is not close right now.

Re: Ted Roof
Exactly. Seeing the defense called tonight is a lot closer to what those of us with concerns wanted. If Roof had run his preferred defense we would not have held them to 7. This game was called a lot more like Bryan Brown called our games last year.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:08 pmNo one wanted to fire him. It was exaggerated responses from fanatics. There were a couple folks who wanted him fired. Not many but a couple. I remember the one post where someone wanted him gone. Even I said we have to give him time. This was one game though. For those who said let's see what happens after 3 games we need to see 2 or 3 more games like this to know for sure that Roof is going to get over the ego and run this defense right. He did so tonight. He needs to keep it up.
