Sitting at 32 in the AP and a potential win on Saturday, below are some of the opportunities that may allow us to move up:
Wake Forest is 26 and at Boston College.
#24 Kansas State is at Oklahoma State who is 27.
I don't see SMU losing to USF, Iowa State losing to Baylor, #25 Michigan State losing to Indiana, #23 Texas A&M losing to Arkansas, or #22 UCF losing to UConn, but if any of those happened we would certainly move up.
I think Army is on a bye.

You think that was the reason we got spanked?

Losing Zac and Fehr in the first quarter were the reason we weren't competitive in that game. Not saying we would have won because we may not have, but losing our leader and playcaller on both sides of the ball in the 1st quarter made that game over before halftime.

Still feel like it's bad luck to concentrate on this, would just rather keep winning and see what happens.

If we lose to Coastal this weekend, you guys can blame it on me.

Yes, you will be tarred and feathered! Banned for the season!
J/K. I’m not the type of American who blames someone else for my woes.

If we win our next five games we go into Columbia 8-0 and ranked #19 in the country.

I think this is interesting and fun to discuss personally. Let the team worry about 1-0, hashtag BeatCoastal and all the short term stuff

Control what we can control and all else will fall into place.
1-0.

What does this mean? I don't get how we are "ranked" 32 in a top 25 poll. I really don't. To me, you are either ranked or you're not. We are not. This makes me wonder how close to pregnant my wife is, because being ranked is like being pregnant: you either are or you're not. I just don't get it.

For real... Not all teams receive a #, obviously that is the top 25 obviously, but there is still a ranking that goes past that on those receiving votes. Not a hard concept to grasp in my opinion.
Just because there isn't a number beside our name doesn't mean we're not technically 'ranked', because we have the votes to put us in a certain pecking order.

Yeah, so we are not in the AP top 25; however, we are currently 32nd in the voting. It's an indicator of how close we are and what needs to happen for us to crack into the top 25. I've heard Drink himself say that our team finished 26th in the rankings last year.

I guess this is my point (and I'll admit I may be wrong). If there is no G5 team in the final AP poll and we win the Sunbelt and finish with the most votes outside the top 25, do we get the auto NY6 bid?

I don't think there'a an auto bid for the NY6 bowl, but in that scenario we'd be a leading candidate.

No sir ...you're understanding of rankings is waaaaay off. Your not ranked or not ranked. South Alabama and Miami are not the same because they are not ranked. Nor are Clemson and Boise State the same because they are ranked. That ranking comes from number of received votes. We are 32nd in that voting. This thread quite accurately explains things we need to happen to be ranked. It's very normal to speculate when you will be ranked in the top 25.
