Allottment

Does anyone know how many tickets were allotted to us for the UNC-App game? I asked in another thread and got no response. That would give some estimate of how many Mountaineer fans will be at the game, Saturday.

We have 6 in our group and will be smack dab in the middle of Carolina fans. Usually allotments are around 5000 but Kenan will be slam full of apps everywhere! Stadium should be peppered with black and gold.my guess is 10000

Around 10k would be my guess as well. Although, that could be the low end of what is actually represented.

10K sounds high if only 4300 were allotted.

The article doesn’t really make it clear if the student tickets yesterday were included in the 4300 or in addition to. There were hundreds of students in line yesterday and many got turned away.

Also, remember that there was a public sale through UNC that sold out in 30 minutes. I bet App fans scooped a large majority of those.

10k is a fairly conservative estimate, IMO

The 4300 was the total allotment. First to Yosef Club members than what was left went to students.

I agree. I would be surprised if it wasn't 10k. While I hate people calling it our Super Bowl, it is a rare in-state game that is an easy travel, so we do it to show our pride. There is no way we don't have more this weekend than we did in Charlotte last year. App will take this game more seriously than CHeat because we are focused on one game at a time and simply aren't arrogant. I say it often, its in our culture. We have no superiority complex.

Could very well be the case, but the article worded it poorly if so

“Joey Jones, the school’s senior AD for communications, said 4,300 tickets were allotted from UNC, and those were distributed to season-ticket holders and Yosef Club donors.”

I don’t consider students to fall in either of those categories. I also find it hard to believe they sat on 500-1000 tickets just to sell them to students on a Tuesday morning before the game.

Contract for the game says 3,500, so beyond that is what ASU requested and was granted.

Out of that, 2,500 of those were complimentary tickets. Meaning that if ASU sold them, which I imagine they did, ASU pocketed the proceeds.

There will be at least 10k. Lots of people have bought directly from various other sources.

Granted, I read Hardin's article quickly this morning but I didn't care for it. He found the two people in Boone, students supposedly, who seemed like they didn't really follow the football team. One guy didn't know we were playing North Carolina this week, and another guy is quoted as “App’s not doing bad this year. We definitely have the spunk.” Really? Not doing bad? We have "spunk?"
Also, in reference to the Charlotte game, "everyone was wearing green" ?? I guess our fans didn't show up for the Charlotte game.
Very poorly written article in my opinion.

I suspect that the person that was quoted about everyone wearing green didn't know that the game was a "white-out" for App so he didn't notice those shirts.

That article was full of backhanded complements to App. It was, in my opinion, trash. But then again, Ed is an ACC beat writer and knows where his bread is buttered.
