Will there be a gathering spot Friday night for App fans who are local or in town early?

The Alumni Association & Triangle Chapter are having an event in Raleigh at the Crabtree Marriott.

This is also the team hotel.

Not quite that close but yeah, not too far away. I wonder if the team is staying at the Crabtree Marriott.

The team usually stays 30 minutes or so away from the game venue. There's nothing unusual in staying at the Crabtree Marriott for a game in Chapel Hill.

That flyer says "at the Team hotel" on it, so probably.

I've stayed there before, it's a nice Marriott but I wouldn't consider it close to Chapel Hill.

The Crabtree Marriott does big business in the sports travel market. I know that most teams visiting NC State stay there, and often teams playing at Duke as well, if I remember correctly.

Missed that in the flyer. Thanks.

Teams typically stay a little ways from the stadium/campus on road trips.

The Triangle is basically one big urban area anyway. That hotel has easy access to 40 and is across from a shopping mall, so no worries about players being out late or getting in trouble.

As it happens, I live 5 minutes from that hotel, so I’m happy about it. It was also the venue for the YC spring tour for several years.

State plays at home Saturday also. The Triangle will be hopping.

Real question is....where are we all celebrating an App State victory on Saturday night? I am staying by the mall on Saturday night, driving up Saturday morning.

Is the Rathskeller still there on campus in chapel hill? I remember that when I was young early 90s.

They've been closed for a while, the Cave also shut down fairly recently if you're looking for any other old school Chapel Hill watering holes.

That's a good half hour drive. Without incident on I 40. On second thought I bet at least 40 minutes from Crabtree to Kennan. NCSU has 7:00? kick so that game traffic won't play. Saturday morning traffic will be lighter.

So back to the thread—-any place Apps should gather in CH on Friday night? I’m not familiar with CH so I can’t suggest a place.
But I’d like to meet up with Apps in CH so someone can get this started. Thanks

Carolina Brewery is a great choice and their food is really good. If you keep going north up Franklin to Carrboro, you'll find better bars. Not sure I'd venture into the college kid atmosphere on Franklin in Chapel Hill.

The Carolina Brewery is the place to go if you have reservations about the drive to The Raleigh Marriott. The drive/ride to The Marriott isn't that off-putting unless you don't have a competent, sober designated driver. State troopers will be on the prowl looking for App branded cars swervin' and screamin' through traffic like DWI student drivers are sometimes prone to do while letting off stream.

It's a cryin' shame that The Olde Rathskeller around a corner and just downstairs from Franklin Street bit the dust. I'm old enough to remember the early 70's when James Taylor disappointed his college administrator/college professor parents by droppin' out of CHeat in order to become a troubadour folk songwriter/performer. He sang almost nightly at the 'Skeller and was joined upon occasion by his future bride-to-be Karly Simon. You would be drawn down those steps by the smooth sound of "Carolins On My Mind" and the soulful sound of "Fire and Rain." But that was then...
