Unc game
Unc game
Hope the team is watching unc and Miami play. Neither one is playing lights out but two tough teams. Unc is not the dumpster fire from last year and we better play balls to the wall in 2 weeks!

Listened to Q1 driving home from Boone. The rookie QB is not playing like a rookie. I'm most concerned about our O line. Zac might not have a pocket to piss in and will have to be pre-Drink Zac whether Drink likes it or not.

Re: Unc game
It's turned around now. Miami getting some pressure. Unc's running backs look pretty good and the defense is aggressive. Miami leads 25-20.

UNC driving and scores.
UNC should be a 2 touchdown favorite against us.

Unless Roof gets lost on the way to the game we lose. No way our D will keep up. UNC is legit. I will be there and cheering them on though! I am actually looking forward to it. I wish it was last year because we win in that case.

At least our game today will give some of our fans a dose of realism when it comes to the UNC game. We can win that game but either way it was never going to as easy as some of our fans thought.

If D stays the same we can all go bet on the spread over under and everything else we can bet on. It’s winnable but is our d fixable?

Re: Unc game
We will score with UNC, no problem. Slowing them down? Big problem.
It’s hard to objectively analyze UNC, Miami and USC aren’t exactly good barometers to measure such a new looking UNC. UNC was in battles with both of them and kind of were in “nothing to lose” situations late in each game. Miami looked awful against UF and USC just beat the brakes off of a FCS team that is fresh off of a 5-6 season and a visit from a CAT 3 hurricane.
Same can be said about us. Charlotte pushed us quite a bit, although I never felt like the game was in reach for them, and ETSU just whooped something called “Shorter”. We have put up 98 points (84 offensively) versus UNCs 52. Better competition for them, yes, but we have doubled their output. Who knows, the only thing I’m having nightmares about tonight are Ted Roof.

Re: Unc game
Bottom line is USC and Miami were much better competition than we have faced and they have always had good recruiting classes. Mack has worked them hard and they have bought in. We are still working on our identity. I watched the fourth quarter and unless we are holding something back it's going to be a tall order to come out of there with a win. Oh, and their stadium was full at the end.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sat Sep 07, 2019 11:23 pmWe will score with UNC, no problem. Slowing them down? Big problem.

Re: Unc game
The entire off-season and pre-season I have told fans/foes/neutrals the same thing when discussing APP vs UNC - "If we still had our same coaches and they still had theirs, I would feel quite confident - we don't, they don't - I don't"

Re: Unc game
What "dose of realism" does our fanbase need? Everyone was licking their chops because we ended last season a much better team than them and would finally get a chance to prove ourselves. Nobody knew how each team's performance would change with new coaching so that wasn't "reality" before it happened.

Re: Unc game
Anyone who thought we would abuse them regardless of who was coaching each squad was delusional. Of course, perhaps folks should have considered how a coaching change would influence each squad. Yesterday provided a good example. Sometimes a coach coming into a losing situation can have a more positive influence than someone inheriting a good one.appvette wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 6:38 amWhat "dose of realism" does our fanbase need? It is amazing all the bravado before yesterday and now the sky is falling. We are still capable of winning that game but obviously we certainly have to play better on the defensive side of the ball.

Re: Unc game
I am not often optimistic about these games, but there are several things that have not changed:
1. UNC is not that good. Better than last year, sure. But they are not close to a top 20 team.
2. We have buy week going into the game.
3. I still think we will have a bunch of fans in Chapel Hill.
4. With Clemson the next week, our game has all the makings of a trap game for UNC.

Re: Unc game
Exactly, this went from an absolute win (in my mind) the first of December to a maybe last week to a no way in hell this week.
With this defense (secondary) we will get boatraced.
