Mountaineer Express East-West

I was coming to the game without Ms. McLeansvilleAppFan so I decided to take the East-West Mountaineer Express. $17 one way from Greensboro to Boone.
There could be just a bit more leg room to lay a laptop on my lap and I wish the bus had a way to charge a phone but otherwise this is not too bad.
On the positive side-huge reduction in my carbon footprint which is the main reason I am doing this, and I do try and take mass transit when I can. I can afford private cars but not everyone can and we should all support mass transit so it can be there for everyone and especially those that do require it.
I don't have a parking spot so I end up paying Grace Lutheran which I don't mind but that saves some of the $34 round trip. I graded a physics test on the way up and after this is posted I will start on some chemistry tests. So the three hour ride is an hour longer but much more productive. I don't tailgate so I am not missing out on that. I usually eat downtown or on campus so nothing new there. I will need to grab some food for the trip down in stadium and that is not idea but certainly doable.

If the game is into overtime or running long then the issue of missing the ending but if I have to I can finish the game on my phone with ESPN+. The return trip leaves at 7:05 so the game should be over in time to walk back to Huey where the bus stop is.
I'll give another report after the return trip to Greensboro.

Grading papers, so you are a teacher? Its "there", not "their". Lead by example.

Thanks for pointing it out. I got it right a few other times and missed that one at the end. How’s the edit?

McL - you must have had to leave just after half - I thought about what you said when I looked at the clock on the wall and it was after 7

Thank you for not taking offense. Most people on here are idiots when it comes to grammar. I get "lazy English" in this relaxed setting and a lot of errors are simple typos on mobile devices. But "their, there, they're" have completely different meanings and it makes me cringe to think (actually, know) that a whole lot of people do not know the difference and do not care.

I care but did not catch it, and I know I am an idiot when it comes to grammar. This is a common mistake of mine to be honest, though only when typing and not writing. Just the way the brain works.
By the way, just because I gave you a "Thanks" and a note back does not mean I am not offended.

And here I thought only my wife gave me mixed signals!!

So I did leave KBS early to make the bus. I knew it would be close timing but I was hoping the game would be well in hand so I would not be missing anything important, and basically winding down with a minutes or two left on the game clock. My original plan was to leave at 6:30 from my seats but I left at 6:35. I had thought about leaving as late as 6:45 but I was carrying a bag with laptop, headphones, papers to grade, and power bricks for phone and laptop. In the other hand was my supper of popcorn and souvenir cup with ice and water. I was also trying to juggle my phone so I could watch the game. Had I not been lugging all of that I would have been able to walk a bit faster (and I have a fast gait) and could have left a bit later. I was at the bus stop at 6:55 for what the ticket said was a 7:00 departure. The website I think did say 7:10 as did the driver when I loaded on the bus so I could have stayed until 6:50 and just made sure I walked fast. Next time I will time it better.
I think it was around the 12 min mark in the 4th quarter when I left the stadium. I just passed the seating area on thew west side as UNCC scored their first TD in the 4th Quarter. The video was in and out so I finally just went over to the audio feed.
Someone that rode up from Greensboro to Boone was already at the bus stop and we talked for a bit as he was at the game as well I found out. I was going to listen to the post game on my headphones but he and I talked college football and App football to Wilkesboro and then from W-S to Greensboro. Come to find out he is writing an update for the website Stadiumjourney.com.
The bus on the way up did not have any electrical outlets that I could locate though I did not ask the driver. On the way down we had a different bus that was a bit nicer and it had 120 V outlets so I was able to mess with my laptop and use my phone as a hotspot for internet.
I would do this again but it certainly works better with a 2:30 game time start. A 2:30 start is not as much downtime before the game though I was in the library being productive with my time, and short of a few OT periods the game will be over by 6:45 pm.

Curious if you got the guys name that you chatted with as you headed back down the mountain? I wrote for StadiumJourney.com for a few years and the last Kidd Brewer Stadium piece on the site was a work of mine...4 or 5 years ago now, I think. My KBS Stadium Journey piece remains one of my favorite pieces I have penned, for obvious personal reasons.

I did not but I knew someone on here had done something for SJ a few years ago. I mentioned there was an article there already it seemed and I remembered the website. He mentioned that SJ was wanting to keep the content updated and fresh. I think he was sitting on the hill in all that mess. It will be a week or so before it is up so you may want to download what you have since it may be lost soon. I assume his name will be posted on the article as your name is. He is from Greensboro but otherwise did not seem to have a connection to App.

I took a look and it appears that it was towards the end of the 2013 season that I had last updated the Kidd Brewer Stadium review on StadiumJourney.com - truly crazy how time flies. I hadn't actually read the piece in years...some of the changes since that time are rather significant, while many things remain the same. It's sad to see the piece "disappear" but I do have it in my writing archives and actually look forward to a new update on the SJ site and to reading someone else's opinions/perspective on a game day in Boone. For those that might want to look at the piece I penned about Kidd Brewer, before it disappears from the site, it can be located here:
