Now that we hired Woody as our DC. Anyone heard any rumors around who will be the next OC? I would love to see Lonnie Galloway come back up the mountain but not sure if he would leave Wake??

I believe Galloway has already left Wake and went back to WVU.

That was a joke right? May want to keep an eye out for Perry Woolbright. HC at N Myrtle Beach HS, Dad was a successful HS coach, coached by Scott at App. Perry wasn't talented enough to play at ours level but he is one sharp cookie.

Maybe we spent all the money on Woody

Curious fish, what part of that wood be a joke and why?
And Lonnie has already left Wake to go back to WVU.

The part about Galloway leaving WF for a coordinator job at ASU after he interviewed for the head coaching job.

I know Lonnie and don't think the fact that he didn't get the head coaching job would keep him from considering the OC job. Actually it may make him consider it more since he probably needs the experience to get a head coaching job anywhere. I still don't think we get him though.

All kidding aside - I do think Lonnie would consider the OC position at App. He was co-passing game coordinator and WR coach at Wake and will be the WR coach at WVU. At worst, you could consider a move to App OC as a lateral move. I would think the pay would be about the same so I could see him passing on an offer from App but where does he go beyond where he is now? At WVU - Dana calls all the plays so what experience does he gain being a WR coach? I would think he would have a lot more upside by having the label of OC - potentially for a future FBS school - and could move to a head coaching position faster if that is where he eventually wants to be in the future.

We may not hire an OC. From the WS Journal story on the Woody hire, "Satterfield, promoted to head coach last month after the departure of Jerry Moore, plans to hire one more coach, an offensive assistant, who could serve as co-offensive coordinator. Satterfield, who was offensive coordinator last season, will still call a lot of the plays."

Maybe so. But I'm thinking the potential arrangement of hiring an offensive asst to serve as co-coordinator might be the best of both worlds. Satt would call most of the plays, which is his forte' and the co-coordinator could do the heavy lifting of prepping the offense, etc I like the idea.

I would hire a QB's coach and let Coach Stepp be co-offensive coordinator with Coach Satterfield this year. After this year let Satterfield hand it off to Coach Stepp. He was under Chad Morris at Clemson for a few years and knows how to run the spread very well. Having him work yet another year with Satterfield on the offense would allow Appalachian to stay within and keep the good times rolling from last year.
Thoughts?

I am in favor of 1 person calling plays. All the other O coaches can have input in the game planning and make suggestions while offense is off the field, but for goodness sake no delays.

You are crazy man. In 2010, Galloway's first stint with WVU, he was given a raise of 75k, no telling what he was already making...we can not come close to paying his salary.

I'm certain we can't match his money. He was over $200,000 in 2010 according to the article you posted. And probably more than that with WFU and now probably more back with WVU. We probably could barely
match his money with the Head Coach position. Lonnie's made some pretty good decisions and had things go his way by being mobile. He left us for the Big East, left the Big East for the ACC, and has now left the ACC for the Big 12. He may never move any higher than position coach/recruiting coordinator but he's going to have a great career regardless. I haven't talked to him in awhile so I'm not sure what his career goals are right now. I think he'da made a good coordinator at App but there's little or no chance of that now.
I don't have any problem with Scott calling plays and having a
co-coordinator who would be in the booth communicating with him about formations.
