Unless the author is Satterfield himself, it's hard to say definitively that he would have taken the job. There obviously are some serious upsides (salary, resources, facilities, level of competition), but there are also countless reasons to stay far away from Chapel Hill, currently. Either way, I'm glad Satterfield isn't headed there...at least not yet.

Article title is clickbait. It’s impossible to judge before he’s even played his first game back in CH. Either way, Mack did us a favor and I appreciate that the UNC situation was taken care of quickly.

Disgruntled Texas fan. Mack Brown knows how to surround himself with good coaches and is still in good standing with HS coaches in both Carolinas and Virginia. Luckily for us he will not be able to right the ship in one year.

Mack Brown will raise a crap load of money while his Coordinators basically steer the ship AND more importantly, they needed someone who was “family” to be at the helm to keep all their dirty laundry under wraps. Will be interesting in the coming weeks to hear how serious the discussions about Scott, Mike Houston, and P.J. Fleck were.

Mack Brown is a CEO style coach and while he grew thin at UNC, there's potential to be a great caretaker at UNC.
And a caretaker that goes 0-3 versus App.

I look forward to seeing Mack Brown in Chapel Hill on September 21, 2019. I will be one of the ones there wearing black & gold and loud as hell! I bet we take over the tailgate and pack the stadium as we have at away games this year already. Welcome back Mack.

He better raise $12M to get them back to even. Retreads don't work (UMASS/UCONN) and recruits will be very excited to play for a 67-year old CEO (vs. a players coach).
Thanks UNC!

I don't think it's a terrible hire. I don't think they hired Mack Brown to lead them to a championship. They hired him to buy instant credibility, to oversee implementation of change (institutional control) and to provide a buffer between their scandal and the next "coach of the future." It's a win-win since apparently Mack wanted one last Hoorah and they need someone to right their sinking ship.

How times have changed. Was the youngest HC in the country when he was at App.

This could be a great scenario for keeping Satterfield here for a while longer unless hes just desperate to leave. Brown wont be there long at his age. Stay home and keep building that rep for four more years, give or take, and be the top candidate when Brown is done. Especially with a couple of wins against them under his belt.
This Louisville thing is a head scratcher. It must really be all about the money to decide to go there.

I believe Brown was brought in to bring back some on-field civility to the players. I also have a hunch the fight at the end of the CHeat/MooU game was what did Larry the hat in. To me, it looked like CHeat players were kicking NCSU players. A push and shove is one thing, but as much as I dislike the holes, even they’ve never sunk to those depths.

Former unc players said they received texts last week that Brown was coming back and they are happy. Insinuating they did not like Fedora.

I heard that the UNC players that were on the team when he left for Texas were pretty pissed at the time...perhaps they've gotten over it. If I recall correctly they were a pretty good team also, just not "national championship" good.

Wish the mods would combine all these separate coaching carousel threads into one.

I caught part of the Brown presser at lunch on the radio. While I’m not a Carolina hater and will root for them (and the other NC teams) in the postseason, the first part of the introductions with Bubba and the Chancellor were nauseating. Bubba and Mack went out of their way to show love for LF- my god he was GIVEN $12m to freaking leave! And then Bubba kind of jokes about how he was surprised the board hired him. Chancellor also used the same hiring joke. Lots of luck Mack.
