ESPNU coverage of game Thursday night at Gnatsboro
Ain't gonna happen I know and I would be pleasantly surprised if otherwise, but It sure would be nice to have some pregame hype and presentation about the rivalry in this game instead of talking about Alabama for thirty minutes then breaking away to the normal douchebag coverage when the game starts. I realize there are 4 other games on different networks Thursday night but the network covering each game needs to discuss pregame the teams playing at hand and not who will be in CFP at the end of season.
It's like watching a PGA tournament and all they talk about is Tiger Woods. Bama Bama Bama....Notre Dame Notre Dame.

KICK ASS!!!

ESPN = HYPE
I agree with you. I feel like I know just as much or more about BAMA as I know about App simply from watching ESPN...
And Notre Dame can go for a long swim with weights on their ankles in lake Michigan for all I care. Join a conference

Hmm, agree with above but have another question. My el cheapo cable subscription [spectrum expanded tier in Charlotte] moved ESPNU up to some other level a few years ago to accommodate public broadcasting channel. I didn't really care then but do now. I have a paid ESPN+ subscription but no access to U. I guess I can do some free 7 day trial on Hulu or Roku or something and stream but just curious what others are doing if not ESPNU on their cable subscription.

Check out SlingTV. I've used it for years now and it usually fits my needs. I traditionally have just gotten the "Orange" package because it ESPN ESPN2 Disney for my daughter. I upgraded to "Orange and Blue" which has NFL and fox sports networks. I just added the "sports" add on for 10$ to get ESPNU for tomorrow. I plan on cancelling and just going back to Orange for 25$/ month because that's really all I need sine I have ESPN+ separately. They also allow a 7 day free week.. maybe see if you can get ESPNU in that deal and just cancel after tomorrow?

Doing the trial would be your best option. I just recently ditched cable and went to Youtube TV. Not a single issue with the stream, and the live picture is still great. Also, Youtube TV offers included Cloud DVR (If you wanted to watch the game again this weekend). I can't speak to the others, but Youtube TV is a nice option to stream on a device, or cast to your t.v. I am pretty sure ESPN U is included no matter where you live.ugmw177 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 9:46 amHmm, agree with above but have another question. Re: ESPNU coverage of game Thursday night at Gnatsboro
Why would Notre Dame want to join a conference? Why, at this point, would Liberty want to join a conference? As far as my understanding goes, the athletic budgets for Notre Dame, Liberty, and BYU (the preminant religious institutions for their respective faiths) leads to a larger athletic budget than most conferences with state schools who are peers in competition would have.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 7:58 amESPN = HYPE

Notre Dame, Wake Forest, Liberty, BYU, and a few other religious institutions could create their own conference and call it "The Crusade" Conference. Their championship game titled "The Holy War".

Hulu Live TV is $40 a month and includes ESPN, ESPN U, ESPNNews, the ESPN SEC, Big Ten Networks, and a few others. Plus you get Nick Jr. and Disney channel. They are actually far more competitive price wise with what people want to pay for TV than the cable providers are.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:02 amCheck out SlingTV. Cool, I'll check it out. I like Sling but have nickeled and dimed myself up with addons that I spend more than I want right now. I am always looking for alternatives.ericsaid wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 11:49 amHulu Live TV is $40 a month and includes ESPN, ESPN U, ESPNNews, the ESPN SEC, Big Ten Networks, and a few others. Interesting you had to pay $10. My sports package was just $5, then again I'm using only Sling Orange.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 10:02 amCheck out SlingTV. You know, I thought that too. It's prorated so I think it came out to 6 and change.. so I didn't give it a lot of thought.MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 2:13 pmInteresting you had to pay $10. So our conference sells out to ESPN for pennies and our biggest rivalry game is relegated to ESPN-U. Wow.

It aint changing, we are the second class citizens of the college football universe. We are victims of the cartel of the P5 and Networks. It's all about the money.

Our game is more interesting than any Dallas Cowboy game the networks try to shove down my throat every week. Cowboys v Redskins? When you actually have two relevant teams playing with Baltimore v New Orleans? Seriously?

Re: ESPNU coverage of game Thursday night at Gnatsboro
The game should at the very least be on ESPN 2. But if Georgia Southern hadn't fired Summers, should this game have been on ESPN at all? Probably not. Should consider ourselves lucky that this game is relevant, App is ranked, Southern has one loss, and that the game can reach a National Audience.
Perhaps next season ESPN will agree to move the game to ESPN or ESPN 2 depending on how both Georgia Southern and App finish this season.

Re: ESPNU coverage of game Thursday night at Gnatsboro
The NFL is driving itself to ruin by putting the NFC East in every primetime, evening, and night slot. The NFC South is the most competitive division in football and rarely gets out of 1 PM games. The NFC North is decent and anyone but the Packers and Chicago play mostly noon central time kick-off games. The Patriots have been pretty well set for close to 20 years now and they rarely are included in evening, night, or other prime time games.appstatealum wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 3:15 pmOur game is more interesting than any Dallas Cowboy game the networks try to shove down my throat every week. Someone in their planning department needs to look at something other than the dollars and realize that they are shrinking their market for new fans by continuously force feeding the entire football world the mediocre Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins. If the conference had a Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, or the like, I'd understand it. But instead you have Alex Smith, Eli Manning, Dak Prescott, and Carson "The Wince" Wentz.

Re: ESPNU coverage of game Thursday night at Gnatsboro
My only complaint is that NFL Network isn't included and there isn't much in the way of customization. But I don't like the packages sling offers because I'd have to sign up for both the sports and kids packages; in reality, I only want two channels from each package.Boonegoon wrote: ↑Wed Oct 24, 2018 1:53 pmCool, I'll check it out.
